Overview
The Director of Human Resources (DHR) oversees HR for the Mobile Convention Center, Civic Center, and Theater and is an executive-level position reporting directly to the General Manager (GM). This role involves aligning key strategic and business objectives with employees and management while ensuring OVG policy adherence. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance management, Collective Bargaining Agreement oversight, employee recruitment, retention, and development, policy implementation, training, benefits administration, and employee relations.
As a trusted consultant, the DHR collaborates with the Mobile Convention Center, Civic Center, and Theater OVG management team, addressing HR needs. The role serves as an advocate for employees, a catalyst for change, and a strategic resource for the leadership team. This position requires an unconventional and innovative thinker, offering an excellent opportunity for someone with business acumen to positively disrupt business as usual.
This role will pay a salary of $75,000 - $85,000.
This position is bonus eligible.

About the Venue
The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center anchors lively downtown Mobile, Alabama, a city that offers world-class accommodations, retail shops, restaurants, museums, parks and art galleries. The 317,000-square-foot facility features 16 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and two exhibit halls that total 100,000 square feet.
Covered walkways and crosswalks to nearby hotels give attendees the ultimate in convenience, with downtown dining, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing just minutes away. Winner of numerous architectural awards, the Mobile Convention Center takes full advantage of an exclusive waterfront setting. The striking exterior incorporates outdoor terraces on three sides of the venue, while the expansive windows - more than 45,000 square feet of exterior glass - afford magnificent views of the historic Mobile River from three levels.
Responsibilities
Human Resources
Serves as the main liaison between OVG's Corporate HR and Mobile Convention Center, Civic Center, and Theater management, ensuring a cohesive HR department.
Adheres to OVG's HR policies for legal compliance, partnering with OVG's Corporate HR legal department when necessary.
Provides HR policy guidance and support to onsite management, supervisors, and
Analyzes HR trends with OVG management to develop programs, solutions, best practices and policies.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough
Collaborates with OVG Corporate HR on EEOC complaints and legal
Works closely with management and employees to enhance relationships, boost morale, improve productivity and retention.
Assist venue leaders with day-to-day performance management.
Offers guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning/training, and succession planning.
Manages recruitment processes, overseeing outreach, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and ongoing retention efforts.
Manages and or supports all aspects of employee industry association participation and internship programs.
Maintains confidential employee records and addresses benefits-related
Handles workers' compensation matters and liaises with insurance
Participates in negotiating local union agreements, providing recommendations, and administering and interpreting union agreements.
Manages union-represented employee issues, including the grievance
Advises on changes in regulations and identifies training needs for onsite employees and
Identifies training needs and coordinates training programs, ensuring successful outcomes and conducts new employee orientations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction and leadership to team members within the assigned.
Manage the recruitment, hiring, training development and retention of department.
Supervise, support and guide team members, including performance assessment, engagement, recognition, and addressing HR-related.
Execute supervisory responsibilities in compliance with OVG's policies and relevant.
Contribute to the annual budget preparation, authorize expenditures, and monitor project Provides leadership and guidance to all employees to ensure compliance with the local Code of Conduct.
Serve as a coach and mentor to the leadership.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-your college or
Master's degree in business management, HR Management or relevant degree
A Minimum of 7+ years' experience resolving complex employee relations
Solid knowledge of the principals and practices of human resources
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Experience with Microsoft 365 Administration
Familiarity with a union environment, highly desired but not
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proven work experience as Director of HR or HR Leadership position
