Job Details:

Mercer University is searching for a Director of Housing and Residence Life in Macon, Georgia.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for providing overall leadership, support and operational oversight (including budget and facility management) for the residence hall system serving approximately 1800 students. Direct supervision of 8 full-time residence life professional staff, 3 administrative staff, 4 maintenance staff (with shared supervision), and a paraprofessional staff of approximately 75 undergraduate and graduate students. Counsels with students. Creates, interprets, and maintains policies and procedures in residence halls and apartments.

Qualifications:

A master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Services or a related field is required along with seven or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which includes having previous supervision of professional and administrative staff.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Ability to learn and understand the budgeting systems and processes.

  • Possess crisis management skills, which includes on-call responsibility.

  • Must be able to inpsect and identify facility issues and concerns and evaluate/prioritize solutions.

  • Ability to work with a diverse population.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees; to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

  • Skill in establishing, directing and enforcing policies and regulations which pertain to campus life and to student development.
