WORKING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to the Co-Presidents.

  • Communicates regularly and has a strong relationship with team members in multiple departments.

  • Communicates and meets periodically with other departmental leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writing, implementing and managing the entire Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Program policies and procedures.

  • Conduct daily and weekly HSSE inspections, document findings in HSSE Database, and implement corrective actions.

  • Perform JSA's, Risk Analysis, Risk Assessments, SRCA's, and MOC's determining employee exposure and institute safe work procedures.

  • Perform daily walk through in the plant to observe employees as they are performing their jobs and create suggestions to stay within compliance.

  • Facilitate Plant-Wide Safety Committees, identifying and eliminating unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.

  • Administrate Annual safety, health, environmental and security goals.

  • Recognize, practice and advise on safe work habits using sound safety and environmental principles in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Conduct incident/accident investigations and lead Safety Root Cause Analysis teams.

  • Primary contact to employees, contractors, and subcontractors regarding compliance with state, federal and local regulatory licenses, permits and safety/health requirements including OSHA regulations and Public Safety program, SDS databases, and hazardous material reporting.

  • Update and utilize monthly Health and Safety KPI's to facilitate a behavior-based Safety Program.

  • Maintain required HSSE documents/files, to include Tier II, HazWaste, OSHA 300 & 301 to name some.

  • Conducting investigations into employee inquiries and suggestions.

  • When necessary, portfolio environmental permitting and compliance activities management.

  • Primary point of contact on workers compensation, file workers compensation claims, follow up on injury management and updating the management team.

  • Work closely with workers compensation carriers to ensure injured employees receive appropriate care, properly minimizing recordable injuries, and reduce loss time and cost of injuries.

  • Develop safety incentive programs and celebrations with HR and ownership.

  • Coordinate monthly Safety meetings; keeps records of meeting minutes and documentation of all progress.

  • Conduct pre-qualification of consultant and contractor Health, Safety, Security and Environmental programs.

  • Conduct annual drills on all shifts and locations as required by law. Keep records of all occurrences.

  • Works with Occupational Health Clinic to maintain return to work physicals, pre-employment physicals, and essential duties exam.

  • Performs analysis of all incidents to include near miss, first aid, property damage to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Responsible for company interface with regulatory authorities for regulatory visits, requests and submissions for their area, with support from managers when needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five (5) years Safety related experience required.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, and NEC regulations.

  • Experience with worker's compensation and associated claims required.

  • OSHA 10 & 30-hour certifications required; OSHA 500 a plus.

  • First Aid and CPR certified trainer a plus

  • Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Designations such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Licensed Safety Professional (LSP), ISO14001 Lead Auditor, OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor. Highly Preferred.
