Summary of Position: The Director of Grants & Sponsored Programs is responsible for seeking, securing, and supporting grants that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the institutional liaison on all matters related to grants & sponsored programs
Manage the daily operations of the Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs, including supervision of employees and stewardship of the operational budget
Maintain institutional policies/procedures related to grants & sponsored programs
Seek grant opportunities that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship
Actively explore new grant opportunities
Introduce faculty, staff, and administrators to new grant opportunities
Support faculty, staff, and administrators in developing grant proposals
Facilitate internal review and approval process for all grant proposals
Serve as the authorized institutional officer for submission of all grant proposals
Secure grant awards that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship
Notify stakeholders of grant awards
Submit signed grant agreements on behalf of the institution
Coordinate with Marketing Department to develop press releases
Coordinate with Controller's Office to develop general ledger chart of accounts
Facilitate grant kick-off meeting with project managers and stakeholders
Coordinate with Business Affairs in developing and approving outside contracts
Support grant projects that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship
Develop and oversee support systems for faculty, staff, and administrators engaged in grant-funded research and projects
Facilitate quarterly check-in meetings with project managers and stakeholders
Ensure compliance with grant agreements and financial procedures
Serve as liaison between project directors and grant sponsors in requesting altered scopes of work, budget revisions, and no-cost extensions
Oversee all grant budgets and produce regular reports for project managers

Education
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
Experience

Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, and nonverbal)
Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse groups
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team towards the fulfillment of a vision
Possesses a broad general knowledge of various academic fields
Possesses a general understanding of financial procedures and budget management
Able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and effectively
Able to self-manage with a high level of discipline
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (word processing, spreadsheets, email, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) and web-based software (SharePoint, Teams, SmartSheet, etc.)
Organized and able to maintain records and documents
Vibrant and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and willing to sign a statement of faith in The Wesleyan Church tradition
