Manages processes related to the graduate Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs which includes Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and Nurse Educator (NE) tracks. Responsible for overseeing the graduate curriculum, program outcomes, monitoring student concerns, progression and mentoring, assigning, supervising and evaluating faculty. Evaluation of current program offerings and development of new programs.Leadership & Operations

  • Assign faculty responsibilities in collaboration with the Dean

  • Participates in the University committees and task forces as requested by the Dean.

  • Participates in College of Nursing & Health Sciences committees following the faculty bylaws.

  • Assists nursing faculty in the assessment, revision, and creation of curricula as needed to maintain the currency, viability, and marketability of the graduate nursing programs to meet state and national standards and guidelines.

  • Assists with the preparation of internal reports and reports required by external regulatory and accrediting bodies.

  • Oversees the implementation and revision of the graduate nursing curricula.

  • Works with Dean to monitor and report admission, enrollment, retention, and graduation data for the undergraduate nursing programs.

  • Oversees the evaluation processes' implementation, monitors outcomes, and works to resolve any graduate nursing program issues.

  • Identifies and develops new programs based on community and strategic plans of the College of Nursing & Health Sciences

  • Coordinates and oversees standardized learning and testing products for the graduate nursing programs.

  • Assures that appropriate academic advising processes for graduate nursing students are in place.

  • Evaluate and supports nursing faculty in carrying out their responsibilities.

  • Assists graduate nursing faculty in the resolution of issues that occur.

Faculty Responsibilities

  • Teaching, Service, Scholarship commensurate to faculty position and rank.

  • Role involves some teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate nursing programs depending on the candidate's expertise.

In addition to the responsibilities and duties listed, the Dean of SONHS may request that the Director of Undergraduate Nursing assume other responsibilities as needed. Occasional travel may be required to meetings and/or national conferences.

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing and NP certification.

  • Current Illinois State Registered Nurse Licensure.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in nursing practice.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in academic education.

  • Experience in academic and/or health care administration preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in advanced functions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Office.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to write reports and correspondence and to speak effectively to various constituencies.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information and to handle sensitive matters with judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritize.

  • Able to facilitate teamwork in an environment dealing with a broad range of issues.
