JOB SUMMARY:

A senior leadership position that is responsible for the organization's global sourcing strategies and launching suppliers' products for new business in development. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the new business quotation process, develop new product process and enhance existing product process. The Director of Global Strategic Sourcing reports to the Vice President Procurement and works closely with Program Management/Product Segment Management, Development Engineering, Business Development, Operations and Sales for assuring profitable and timely new product launches. The Director of Global Strategic Sourcing also works closely with the Company's joint venture(s) in the establishment of global sourcing strategies to support the overall objectives for SRI Procurement globally.

Responsibilities include the ability to assess and identify gaps in the supply chain for new business in development and establish new supplier relationships in close collaboration with the global commodity strategy team. The Director of Global Strategic Sourcing oversees commercial negotiations and supplier selections to assure best-in-class total acquisition cost solutions for new projects in development. This requires a flawless execution of sourcing strategies and continuous development of the capabilities necessary for future product launches.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates a global vision for Strategic Sourcing and plans for implementation of new sourcing strategies across all key commodities for Stoneridge Inc.

  • Identify emerging trends and requirements for all future product needs to assure a world-class supplier base to Stoneridge, Inc.

  • Maintains relationships with customers and suppliers to position the Company as the market leader in its chosen sourcing strategies. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to discern the competitiveness of developing existing and create/establish new sourcing strategies

  • Provides leadership to the global procurement organization, including locations in USA, Mexico, China, Europe and India

  • Establishes short-and long-range strategies, plans, objectives and policies which fit within the broader business plan and strategy of the SRI Procurement organization

  • Plans and directs all investigations and negotiations pertaining to the strategic sourcing aspects of mergers, joint ventures, acquisition of business, or sale of major assets by Stoneridge Inc.

  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the sourcing strategy and the entire procurement organization

  • Works closely with the heads of commodity strategy and supplier development to support commercialized products are ready for launch while meeting all cost and quality standards

  • Keeps abreast of industry technology trends along with Stoneridge, Inc. products and market position to assure that Stoneridge has optimal sourcing strategies

  • Engages with Engineering to drive supplier innovation and design for manufacturability

  • Leads the talent development activity across the Strategic Sourcing Organization, ensuring a well-developed pipeline of talent and next generation of strategic sourcing leaders are maintained

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Approximately 10 15 or more years of progressive work experience within the automotive industry, with experience working with either an OEM, 1st Tier supplier or both

  • Demonstrated experience in best-in-class sourcing strategy practices including but not limited to; spend analysis, system and tools, sourcing core team management, should be costing, total acquisition cost modelling and value analysis/value engineering

  • Proven performance in achieving results related to sourcing strategy or similar function within procurement. Key Performance Indicators are, but not limited to; direct material cost savings for new development programs, savings generated through Value Analysis/Value Engineering, assuring supplier readiness and flawless launch

  • Proven experience in establishing global strategic sourcing teams, global sourcing strategies including leveraging low-cost solutions with high results

  • Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external key stakeholders

  • Experience working in both direct and matrix management environments

  • Strong background with challenging negotiations in a complex international environment

  • Outstanding negotiation skills to lead a wide range of commercial negotiations for new programs in development on behalf of Stoneridge Inc. and interface at the most senior levels within Stoneridge and the leadership at suppliers

  • Global experience and strong cross-cultural orientation are important to understand and respond to regional differences in execution styles

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with suppliers at a senior level to discuss complex issues including procurement processes and other automotive industry demands

  • Strong leadership skills in motivating, engaging, energizing and managing a complex procurement organization located in multiple facilities geographically dispersed as well as influencing globally

  • Ability to drive accountability and high levels of performance throughout the organization and influence others

  • Outstanding analytical skills, with strong planning and problem-solving abilities

  • Strategic thinker with a keen sense of the importance of tactical execution

  • Ability to work independently under general direction and work with the highest degree of professional and ethical standards

  • A proven track record of success in a collaborative and participative management environment

  • Excellent business sense / judgment and the ability to influence and facilitate activities globally

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in Business discipline is strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree in Business discipline or Engineering is required.
