Purpose

To provide strategic support to the financial operations of the university.

Responsibilities

  • Administer strategic projects at the direction of the Associate Vice President, with a focus on building efficiencies, strengthening, and leveraging relationships across business units. Duties include collecting input from and convening stakeholders both within and external the CFO portfolio; Perform appropriate research for special projects as determined by the AVP and take part in policy review, development, and coordination of implementation. Oversee transfer of projects to other stakeholders as appropriate. Attend meetings on behalf of the AVP and effectively represent the Office of the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

  • Provide thoughtful input and planning toward the university's efforts to deliver high-quality financial operations. Work with various campus constituents, teams, and offices to identify opportunities for professional development, shared best practices, and develop innovative tools to streamline efficiencies and lessen administrative burden, while ensuring high standards of compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.

  • Prepare financial reports and reviews for Associate Vice President. Provide financial data to inform budgets and financial projections. Maintain documents related to financial commitments, including contextual background.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Five (5) years of experience with financial analysis, budget management, accounting, and/or reporting in higher education. Proven experience in project management and financial operations. Experience in providing financial and budgetary information from a variety of sources. Previous experience working with an enterprise resource planning administrative application. Ability to manage a wide array of projects simultaneously. Experience working independently and in setting and maintaining priorities and goals. Experience working effectively with other executive-level administrators developing processes and procedures to accomplish administrative tasks. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and perform tasks accurately. Experience with financial/budget management systems, financial software, spreadsheet applications, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Well-developed skills working effectively with all levels of administrative offices; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and offices so that the UT Austin mission is successfully accomplished; good knowledge of financial impact on a wide array of issues. Thorough working knowledge of the budget of UT Austin. High level of proficiency with *DEFINE, business intelligence tools such as COGNOS and/or PowerBI, and use of university's allocations detail systems. Demonstrated proficiency in creating financial reports and providing financial analysis. Experience in the areas of human resources, financial administration, and internal control procedures. Experience working with the university's five-year planning process.

Salary Range

$125,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
