SCC is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Director of Financial Services to join our professional administrative team. As a member of this team, you will direct business activities pertaining to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, student accounts/billing services, purchasing, payroll and financial statements either personally or through employees.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides leadership and guidance in the administration and management of financial services ensuring the colleges' initiatives are met. Serves as the team leader for effective and collaborative service-focused units. Champions employee and client relationships, serving as a partner to meet department and college goals.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures affecting employees and/or clients, applying them fairly and consistently. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and applies best practices in direct support of the overall vision, mission, and goals of the college.

Serves as team leader in coaching team members in conflict resolution techniques and problem solving, using broad-depth experience and compliance with local and federal regulations.

Able to work effectively with diverse cultures and populations, building relationships with stakeholders and constituents through teamwork and direct communication. Skilled in performing well under pressure in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment. Ability to multi-task using effective time management to resolve issues with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Formulates and develops plans, goals, and objectives, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, student accounts/billing, purchasing, payroll and financial statements, assuring alignment of plans with the mission of St. Charles Community College.

Provides leadership and supervises managers and staff of the financial services departments. Oversees daily, weekly, and monthly accounting transactions and related documentation.

Completes various accounting and financial reports and prepares financial statements and detailed information for college leadership and auditors. Provides oversight for the preparation of billing invoices for college contracts and grants and performs the cash management functions of the grants. Assists the Financial Aid department in processing student financial aid disbursements and refunds.

Responsible for developing and maintaining high-performing work teams with innovative solutions for organizational operations. Provides leadership, coaching, training, and organizational development to unit employees.

Research forward-thinking strategies for developing new programs to meet organizational need. Work collaboratively with colleagues to create new forms and processes to increase awareness and streamline operational protocol.

Manages internal and external relationships with diverse populations, the SCC community network, ensuring quality service and support. Collaborates with other campus departments to understand complex procedural, operational, and technical matters.

Ability to gather, compile, and analyze data/information and prepare reports, using results to predict performance of units. Detail oriented and able to manage multiple assignments and projects, create detailed action plans, as well as the ability to adapt changing priorities, deadlines, and decisions.

Collaborate with department staff on multiple projects to reviewing planning, project timelines and identify priorities to complete the project and meet the goals and expectations of the organization. Develops budget, monitors, and approves expenditures related to operational units.

Facilitate the creation and updating of policies and procedures, guidelines as applicable and best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds. Provides excellent customer service.

May supervise department staff by completing job performance reviews, developing work schedules, approving time and absences, and assisting with problem resolution.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field plus five years of experience in accounting, financial management, and forecasting, or Associate's degree or higher plus seven years of related work experience or equivalent education and experience. Two years full-time supervision experience required.

Knowledge of accounting procedures, specifically governmental accounting standards (GASB), accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, payroll, general ledger, and accounting cycles. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.

Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Generally, reports to an Executive Director or Vice President; may vary based on organizational need.
