Director Of Financial Planning Analysis & Business Support (FT Days)

he Director, FP&A and Decision Support has overall responsibility and accountability for leading the financial planning, capital planning, as well as business decision support for the health system. Financial planning responsibilities include the annual operating and capital budgeting, interim forecasts, and long range financial planning. Capital planning includes budgeting and tracking of capital commitments. Decision support includes return on investment analyses and business modeling of clinical planning, as well as other strategic and system initiatives. Operational support will be provided for routine variance analyses and business information needs. In order to be more effective at providing business decision support and information, a comprehensive understanding/coordination between the key financial systems is required. This includes fixed assets, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, supply chain, and human resources, Kaufman Hall, Strata Decision Support, as well as all systems utilized in the revenue cycle. This position will routinely interact with senior management and help to guide improvements in stewardship through detailed financial analysis of new and existing services.

Job duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the annual budget cycle and preparation of all Adena operating and capital budgets ensuring that various budget deadlines are met.

• Develop process for governing capital budgets and creating annual and long range capital expenditure budgets.

• Develop and maintain interim and long range financial forecasts.

• Coordinate activities with the monthly Financial Reporting as necessary including assisting with budget variance analyses.

• Identify business information needs of operational and financial leadership and provide timely information.

• Coordinate all required financial planning activities to meet the needs of the Executive Team, including coordination with management, outside advisors, consultants, attorneys, accountants, auditors, bond trustee, etc.

• Provide financial leadership in the development and implementation of Adena's ERP, Decision Support/Financial Planning/Budgeting/ and EMR Revenue Cycle systems to assure useful financial management and reporting is achieved.

• Provide leadership to the development and on-going utilization of Strata Decision Support. Utilize the Strata decision support system to provide information on overall profitability by payor, service line, ordering provider, etc. and identify areas for operational focus.

• Coordinate activities to develop and maintain the Strata business decision support system, specifically the cost accounting process/system, and providing/supporting potential cost savings opportunities for management.

• Collaborate with Human Resources on the creation and maintenance of annual and long range labor/benefit budgets and support operations through the development/support of a labor productivity system and reporting.

• Work with operational leadership to establish and manage a structure for utilization of Decision Support system information to identify opportunities for operational improvement.

• Train assigned staff, establish annual objectives, and supervise and evaluate their work, maintaining appropriate knowledge of their activities and responsibilities.

• It is the responsibility of all management personnel to insure the financial integrity of their departments through proper adherence to system policies and development/maintenance of procedures to include but not be limited to Charge Capture/Reconciliation, Budget, and Productivity.
