Job Description:
Title: Director of Financial Aid
Unit: Full Time Non-Unit Professional
Department: Enrollment/Financial Aid
Reports To: Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management
General Summary:
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the oversight of the Office of Financial Aid at RCC. The role is responsible for managing all aspects of student financial aid programs and services including: staff supervision, oversight of financial aid, processes, procedures, and compliance with all federal and state regulations, as well as all college policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This role will also assist with developing a plan to streamline all processes and procedures that will help ensure efficient and effective functioning in the day-to-day workflow of this office. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and plays an integral role in helping to increase enrollment and retention at the college.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan, assign, and direct day-to-day office workflow
Promote the development of ideas for improved service and efficiency, and encourage teamwork
Develop, revise and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and college policies related to financial aid and scholarships
Coordinate all financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and other policies, and procedures
Oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Return of Title IV Funds processes, including US Department of Education & National Student Loan Data System notifications
Oversee coordination of student loan processing between students, federal government, and the college.
Collaborates with various offices (i.e. Business Office, Registrar, Admission, and Student Accounts) to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information and awards between school information systems
Administers appeals process related to SAP and Special Circumstances
Establish appeals committee and appeal guidelines
Complete federal, state, and institutional reports including applications for federal funding and reports the expenditures of funds allocated, such as the FISAP
Coordinate internal reconciliation efforts and report to reviewing entities, such as auditors, program reviewers, and accreditation teams
Develop and conduct financial aid presentations and participate in outreach activities in the community
Develop and update all publications such as the college website, catalog, and other media such as financial aid applications, brochures, and forms used for tracking applications and correspondence
Provide training and materials to college staff regarding the financial aid process.
Advise students and families regarding general financial needs such as financial aid eligibility and opportunities, academic progress, and other necessary information
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree/ Masters preferred (Accounting, Finance, or related areas - preferred)
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a college or university Office of Financial Aid.
Demonstrated skills in the use of PowerFAIDS
Managerial/supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge of Student Information systems (Jenzabar preferred)
Demonstrated skill in all Microsoft Office applications
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
Some evening and weekend hours
Detailed oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
Ability to work in cross-functional settings
Experience with individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities including but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual orientations, socioeconomic level, and varying physical and learning abilities
Additional Information:
This Position is a Full Time Non-Union Professional position.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 annually, actual salary commensurate with experience.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday) 9am
