BIG PICTURE: Luxury High Volume Mountain Property in the South West is in need of an experienced ADOF or DOF. Hospitality background is required.

The property Director of Finance will lead the Finance Department and oversee HOA operations such that accounts management, reporting, financial analysis and interdepartmental and vendor relations are managed to optimize the resort and HOA profitability.


  • Provide guidance and communication related to accounting systems, policies and processes.
  • DOF is a final review step for all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports issued by department.
  • Work with Controller/ Managing Director and operational team to provide full and accurate forecasts.
  • Lead monthly finance update meetings with Managing Director of operational team.
  • Conduct financial analysis of operation to optimize all assets.
  • Lead and Assist with pro-forma and development projects.
  • Review all contracts and participate in negotiation with vendors to achieve most favorable terms.
  • Oversee insurance, and 401k compliance.
  • Develop best financial practices control procedures. Continually review the process and procedures to optimize profits.
  • Ensure the balance sheets are a proper reflection of the assets and liabilities of the resorts.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of all jurisdiction(s) tax and reporting requirements for the property.
  • Answer financial and tax related inquiries as requested.
  • Offer up suggestions, make recommendations and implement necessary changes to meet and exceed departmental objectives and to enhance financial efficiency.
  • Responsible for oversight of HOA accounting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • A minimum of 5 years previous accounting management experience is preferred.
  • Previous hospitality industry experience is highly desired.
  • Appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on-the-job effectiveness.
  • Experience in working with M3 accounting system is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OnTrack Labor Management System or similar system is a plus.
  • High proficiency in Excel and all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Capability to negotiate contracts and develop relationship with vendors.
  • Ability to analyze all aspects of the operations.
  • Ability to devise and implement strategic plan to optimize assets.
  • Ability to devise and implement innovative way to operate in order to produce strong results.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and experience in the preparation of general ledger reports and financial statements.
  • Strong track record for management of confidential information with significant degree of discretion and independent judgement.
  • Capability for effective communication with all levels of staff and management, both verbally and in written formats.
  • Exceptional service orientation, with keen ability to focus and deliver on client needs.
  • Reliable and responsible character, with exceptional follow up and attention to detail.

  • Schedule flexibility and ability to work extended and/or irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays, if necessary.
  • Experience in Hospitality finance is strongly preferred.

Employment Status Full-Time Overview The Complex Director of Finance functions as the strategic financial business leader for a cluster of properties within a market. Responsible for achieving financial goals at each participating property. This position champions, develops and implements market wide strategies to ensure the financial success of each hotel. He/she is also responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting; maintaining acceptable levels of internal control; ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations; complying with all Highgate Hotel's policies and procedures; and safeguarding owners / investors assets. Qualifications Fundamental Requirements: * Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes. * Provides ongoing analytical support by monitoring the operating departments actual and projected sales. * Must be able to prioritize regional, or hotel, or departmental functions in order to meet all deadlines. * Plan, perform, assimilate, report and present Due Diligence information in an opening, closing, or conversion environment. * Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues, which includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, timely deposits and other control mechanisms. * Monitor regional hotels' revenues and expenses to ensure the accurate recording of information in accordance with Highgate Hotel's guidelines. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management. * Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with the calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and ensuring proper upkeep of the property by evaluating scope of work and specifications. * Ensure hotels' compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items. * Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels' financial objectives. * Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, and employee records. * Embrace a continuous growth environment by actively assisting in recruiting, reviewing, recommending and maintaining an inventory of Assistant Directors of Financial Services, Assistant Directors of Financial Services Trainees, Accounting Managers, and other managers for the organization. * Continually focus on training and development programs for Accounting associates to cultivate the "brightest" and "best" talent within the industry. * Assist in the implementation and completion of all Accounting Key Competencies for all management and hourly positions within the market. Participate actively in updating the information contained in all positions on a regular basis. * Hire, train, supervise and develop staff, including coaching, counseling and discipline. * Review, rate, and evaluate the Financial Services Staff performance on a semi-annual and annual basis in accordance with guidelines provided by Human Resources. * Assist in the revision, recognition, development, and implementation of Accounting Standard Operating Procedures on a regular basis. * Assist in ensuring the proper utilization, maintenance, and periodic upgrades of all EDP equipment. * Direct or prepare financial reports in accordance with Highgate Hotel's requirements to ensure meeting various deadlines and due dates, i.e.,Monthly: Financial Statements | Forecasting | Key Statistics Report | Cash Flow * Annual: Budgets | 5-Year Plans | 5-Year Capital Plans * Weekly: A/R & A/P Aging | Flash Reports | Payroll Reports | Revenue Updates * Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency. * Education & Experience: * A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field; or a 4-year college degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration and a minimum of 5 years of related progressive experience; or a 2-year college degree and a minimum of 8 years of related progressive experience. * Must be proficient in Windows, Oracle, and Microsoft Office * Physical Requirements: * Long hours sometimes required. * Sedentary work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently, or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
