As a member of the properties Executive Committee, the Controller is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the hotel General Manager.

The Controller plans, organizes, directs, and controls the accounting and control function of the division, reports operational results, and provides chronological systems.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the Accounting function

  • Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee

  • Manage and lead hotel on-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting and cash management

  • Assist in nurturing the important relationship with the owners. Be responsible for supervising and coordinating owner reporting as required. Provide custom reports, respond quickly to questions or requests and attend meetings

  • Manage SOX compliance

  • Complete the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers. Coordinate external auditor's visits, respond to auditor requests, approve any and all adjustments, reconcile the audit numbers to the property numbers and approve the final audit

  • Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department managers in this process. Take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement

  • Aid in the preparation and final review of the annual business plans

  • Supervise the Information Technology function. Additionally have a sound understanding of the hotel operational and back office systems as well as Microsoft Office products

  • Have a sound understanding of the forecasting system and the tools from Revenue Management. Review monthly and quarterly property financial forecasts. Assure that the forecast is attainable

  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel Accounting experience (typically with Hyatt)

  • With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred

  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills

  • Hospitality or Accounting degree preferred

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Word and Excel

The Company has developed the 6400-acre resort and community that contains a lodge, inn, three golf courses, spa, fitness centers, hike and bike trails and 3000 single family lots in the Cascade Mountains of Washington – 80 miles east of Seattle. Suncadia is owned by a venture between affiliates of Lowe Enterprises, Inc. and Oaktree Capital. The Company is responsible for development, sales and marketing management services including: * Management of development and construction * Management of real estate brokerage operations and homeowners' associations Summary of Duties: The Director of Marketing ("DOM") is responsible for assisting in development of marketing strategy and direct oversight over the marketing of resort real estate at Suncadia which presently includes 140 lots, whole unit condominiums in the lodge, and over 100 resale listings. The DOM will work closely with the development team as well as the resort hospitality management team from Hyatt. The lots are currently priced from $150,000 - $950,000, condos from $145,000 to $450,000 and homes from $585,000 to $3,000,000. Essential Functions * Proactive management of internal resources and third party marketing agencies and vendors, management of the creative development and execution of marketing plans and programs to accomplish resort real estate sales goals including advertising, media purchases, online marketing, print collateral, displays, signage, videos, direct mail, on-site and off-site events, communication with owners, communication with prospective buyers, entertainment and other marketing programs as appropriate * Preparation of annual marketing and sales budgets and business plans and strategy * Collaboration with Resort marketing team to leverage hotel operations and hotel marketing programs to generate real estate leads from resort guests, including communication to resort guests before, during and after resort stay, on-site programs and events for prospects, experience package programs, etc. * Implement all on-site hospitality capture programs, strategies, and avenues for real estate prospects * Oversight of product pricing and velocity management * Optimization of the efficiency and cost effectiveness of marketing expenditures and programs as well as ability to thoughtfully manage marketing budgets and make adjustments to reflect market conditions * Direction and implementation of all on-site sales, prospect and owner events and open houses including budgeting, planning, implementation, staffing, catering, etc. * Direction of real estate public relations strategies and programs, including * Establishing alliances and programs in the community and region to further the recognition and regard of Project and to build and maintain positive and effective community relationships * Working with the Resort Director of Sales and Marketing to coordinate public relations activities generated on behalf of operating entities * Management, implementation, and continual refinement of sales office facilities, model rooms and inventory control throughout the Project. * Conception, direction, and implementation of effective market research programs including the evaluation of industry and local and regional competitive set performance; proactively researching, monitoring and making recommendations for responses to changing market conditions * Work effectively with the Resort Managing Director in the marketing and sales of the resort's hospitality amenity components * Ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed * Formulation of Project sales strategies including product pricing and selling incentives * Implementation of strategies to create long term value in the Project Real Estate resales brokerage business * Effective outreach with area realtors and management of cooperative realtor programs * Oversight of owner maintenance and loyalty programs designed to minimize cancellation of contracts in escrow, increase referrals and increase owner satisfaction and goodwill * Design, preparation and maintenance of records and reports regarding sales volume, sales production, trends and other such reports which may be requested by management * Management and reporting capabilities for the Company's CRM. * Compliance with all governmental real estate regulations and procedures * Additional and General Responsibility for: * Participating as one of the project's managers in building the quality, compatibility, effectiveness and spirit of the Project Team * Participating in creating, expanding and fulfilling the Project lifestyle and experience * Monitoring Project conditions and quality to ensure consistency with the standards and vision for Project * Performing other duties as assigned Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree and/or proven equivalent related experience * Relevant experience of 5+ years in residential real estate including master planned resort residential communities, condominiums and/or condominium hotels is preferable but not necessary * The position requires knowledge of and significant experience in sales and marketing strategy, developing organizational structures and implementing strategic plans.
