LOCATION: San Francisco, Financial District
Benchling is seeking a Director of Finance who will own the annual operating plan, create and maintain core business models, implement key financial systems, and develop a robust reporting framework as we rapidly scale.
You will be responsible for providing creative solutions for executing against growth targets, building a team to support the day to day FP&A operations as well as a long term strategic financial plan. As Director of Finance your work product will be key to influencing decision making and supporting quarterly board of directors presentations. A successful candidate must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of leader and should enjoy a fast-paced, high growth environment. The position requires strong financial and management skills, a strong business sense and the ability to understand the big picture while being detail oriented.
This role reports to the VP Finance. We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of GAAP, strong communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively across business functions while being a self-starter.
Have ownership of and lead the FP&A function
Prepare quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors and Executive Team.
Construct Benchling's core business models (Staffing, Sales Capacity, Bookings, etc.) and adapt them to our rapidly growing business over time.
Partner with business leaders in managing toward operational goals and key objectives
Oversee system design and implementation of Financial Planning systems
Hire, manage and develop a strong, performance-oriented FP&A organization, capable of scaling with the business
Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting - analyzing financial results, distilling/synthesizing key trends, assessing current and future business risk, and communicating key messages to senior management
Work closely with Sales Operations to develop Sales Compensation methodology and ongoing payout calculation
Develop a scalable OpEx and Revenue forecast process enabling better business predictability
Foster a data culture and enable data driven decision making across the company
BA/BS in Finance, Economics, or equivalent
7-10 years FP&A and management experience
3-5 years Saas industry experience
The ability to lead complex projects which require influence and implementation across functional teams
Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high energy, initiative and creativity
Experience working with private, VC-funded technology startups through various stages of growth and scale preferred
Familiarity with NetSuite, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights and other financial reporting tools
Looker experience preferred
