The Director of Facility Operations provides leadership, supervision and support of the Facilities Department which comprises Buildings & Grounds, Custodial Services and Rink Operations. This position works closely with many constituents of the School. Major responsibilities include: daily building operations for the facility (350,000 gsf), grounds and athletic fields management (100 acre campus) and capital repair and renewal projects. The incumbent will develop strategic direction of the department and be accountable for implementation, with sustainability as a key component of both. The Director will manage in a collaborative manner working alongside the staff on a daily basis serving not only as a mentor but as contributing team member in order to effectively monitor progress and ensure accountability.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in one of the following disciplines: Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Facilities or Construction Management
  • At least 10 years of experience in facility/building/property management, construction management, and/or plant engineer (preferably in an educational setting), with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Office or Google Docs for communicating, budget tracking, project management and presentations.
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, utility networks and energy management systems strongly preferred
  • Preferred experience in at least two technical trades.Personal experience in at least two technical trades (plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, roofing, HVAC and/or other building trades)
  • Training in and experience implementing and practicing energy conservation and sustainable building practices
  • Knowledge of landscaping, forest management, athletic field maintenance, pesticide management preferred

Computer Skills

  • Strong skills and demonstrated experience with Microsoft office suite (EXCEL, Word)
  • Experience in CMMS software programs (preferably SchoolDude)
  • Experience in operating Building Automation/Energy Management Systems
  • Familiarity with database management, data input, and MS Project would be an advantage

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Black Seal Boiler LicenIntegrated pest management operators license preferred

  • Membership in related professional organization(s) desirable
  • Valid drivers license
  • Black Seal Boiler License Preferred
  • Universal Refrigerant License Preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk for long periods of time around campus
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer

The Associate Director of Vendor Oversight & Operations partners with the Group Director of Business Partnerships, a matrix of relationship managers, the head of Outsourcing Management and other key BMS stakeholders across Global Clinical Operations. This role requires clinical trial operational experience, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work across a highly matrixed and global organization. Rapid identification and transparent communication of risks as well as competency to mitigate those risks and resolve issues are key expectations. The roles is also responsible to build relationships with key stakeholders, to influence strategic alignment on key objectives and broader objectives and ensure understanding of and performance of timely and adequate oversight of Vendor performance.
