The Hamilton Wenham Regional School District is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to serve as the full-time Director of Facilities, Maintenance, & Operations. The position will have a dual reporting role between the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Administration.
The Director of Facilities, Maintenance, & Operations is responsible for the overall appearance, cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep of all District buildings and their grounds, including all athletic fields and any area or object within its boundaries. The Director supervises and coordinates the custodial and maintenance functions and personnel of the District.
The Director is also responsible for managing student transportation during school days and coordinates all bus schedule route adjustments and safety training with the bus company.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
FACILITIES AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
Coordinates inspections for all vehicles, buildings, playgrounds, boilers, kitchen equipment, elevators, fire suppression and life safety equipment, and systems as well as the Project Adventure Course as needed
Oversees the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in the buildings
Oversees the functioning, maintenance, and repair of the District's Wastewater Treatment Facilities located at the HS/MS Complex
Works closely with the Athletic Director and arranges for, oversees, and evaluates the maintenance program for the fields at the middle/high school sites
Oversees and maintains the cleanliness, appearance, operation, and security of grounds on the school sites
Manages a pest control schedule
Develops and implements equipment and systems preventive maintenance programs and plans.
Responsible for all school buildings, and provides for the cleaning, repair, building maintenance, renovation, and replacement of buildings, grounds, and equipment
Supervises 13 custodial staff members and 2 maintenance staff members. The Director, in collaboration with the building principals, is responsible for evaluating custodial staff. The Director is solely responsible for evaluating maintenance staff
Assigns overtime and substitute custodial coverage for all buildings and grounds
Supervises the Director of Nutrition Services and in collaboration with the Director of Nutrition Services oversees the District's Food Service program and its operations
Responsible for the delivery and implementation of the general education transportation of students to and from school in collaboration with the District's transportation vendor(s)
Manages and maintains the District's work request and work order system, ID badge system, and security camera systems
Prepares specifications for work to be done under contract; inspects the construction and repair and renovation of work under contract with outside vendors
Oversees the performance of all contractors
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Administration
PLANNING
Participates in the development of a comprehensive capital improvement plan for school buildings and facilities; coordinates execution of approved projects at the direction of the Assistant Superintendent
Prepares plan specifications for various maintenance functions, and coordinates and supervises the activities of private contractors if work is not performed by school personnel
Develops and executes a preventative maintenance program for all building equipment and systems
Develops and implements a painting and maintenance schedule to ensure the protection, preservation, and aesthetic nature of the building and grounds
Maintains an inventory and orders all custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment so that needed replacements can be ordered efficiently
Manages the District's Building Use Program with the Athletic Director and the Building Use Coordinator
Participates in the grant application process (i.e., green communities)
Participates in any MSBA or building project committees and board meetings
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Administration
BUDGETING AND PURCHASING
Develops and recommends department budgets to the Assistant Superintendent; authorizes and expends funds consistent with District policies and procedures; monitors budgets to ensure compliance within approved levels and takes corrective action as required
Annually makes budget presentations to the School Committee and as requested by the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Administration, also makes other budget, finance, or capital planning presentations to the School Committee and other boards
Prepares specifications for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services necessary for the care and maintenance of buildings and grounds; reviews equipment inventories
Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent in securing the best and most cost-efficient supplies, materials, and equipment for the facility, and therefore, must be familiar with state procurement laws
Assists the Assistant Superintendent in the development of the Capital Plan
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Administration
The salary range for this position is $110,000- $125,000.
