Director of Facilities
With over 120 years of manufacturing high-end, collector-quality, American-made furniture, and nearly as many years as a furniture retailer, L & J G Stickley, Inc., is the proud employer of almost 900 talented individuals. We have three manufacturing facilities and twelve Showrooms. As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a qualified Director of Facilities to join our team!
Position Overview:
The Director of Facilities would work alongside maintenance staff and service providers to ensure our Retail Showrooms, Factories, related buildings and grounds are clean and safe. The Director of Facilities oversees all aspects of building functions and guarantees the safety and functionality of all facilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Establish schedule for day-to-day operations of facilities, such as delegating or completing maintenance orders, cleaning and maintenance tasks to team members, monitoring interior and exterior areas of building for cleanliness and compliance with general health and safety policies and procedures.
Ensuring proper security/fire safety measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security/fire safety system vendors or a team of security/fire safety professionals.
Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff
Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.
Coordinate service contracts for mechanical systems, grounds maintenance, cleaning, etc. associated with properties.
Coordination of any new leases and or new building due diligence requests.
Secure bids and coordinate all construction, renovation, and maintenance projects, including exterior sign bids and installation.
Assist in new design and layouts for Showrooms.
Secure building Certificates of Occupancy and all related permits.
Interface with Insurance Carriers on all building related inquiries and requirements.
Utility contract negotiations/upgrades and monitor utility costs for properties.
Collaborate with Showroom Manager and Senior Management on budgeting for facilities including preparation and implementation of annual budgets within timeframes, Capital Expenditure requests and related activities.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members
Great time management, organization, and prioritization abilities
Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
Preferred qualifications:
Prior Retail Showroom Facility Maintenance experience
Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, or equivalent
Experience in planning and maintaining facility budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional leadership experience
Contract handling experience
Strong attention to detail
Experience working with service providers, general contractors, architects, and municipalities related to properties.
