POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the direction of operations for Facilities and Engineering.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

(The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all-inclusive for specific positions.)

  • Responsible for hiring and terminations, review and administration of performance appraisal documentation, reprimands, discipline and wage adjustments, ensures company policy and procedures are followed.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with various local governmental agencies and personnel to ensure community support and involvement. Familiar with city code and requirements.

  • Ensure all team members are trained in proper equipment operation, MSDS, as well as proper safety training for the department.

  • Responsible for adherence to swimming pool regulations and maintenance, as required by law.

  • Responsible for maintaining the general building structure and grounds Equipment operation, maintenance, and repair, including but not limited to air conditioning units, refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen equipment, furnishings, fixtures, elevators and fire protection systems.

  • Ensure that building environmental and comfort standards are maintained.

  • Responds for responding to building emergencies as per established procedures; responsible for knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and ensures that shift personnel have knowledge of the same; follows established procedures in reporting potential hazard areas.

  • Ensure that building operating status, emergencies, and any other pertinent engineering operating information is properly transmitted to Executive Management and other necessary departments, as applicable

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must have ability to:

  • Operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, crowds, and vibration. Incumbents are required to work in elevated places inside buildings, such as camera bubbles, catwalks, attics, and outside of buildings such as; rooftops. This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided.

  • Observe and direct performance of subordinates.

  • Inspect and maintain areas for which responsible.

  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.

  • Use all equipment and make all repairs required of the position.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Complete knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, boilers, chillers, and emergency generator system. Knowledge of general repairs and safety procedures. These skills are typically acquired through a minimum of five years' experience in Engineering operations (preferably in the Hotel/Resort Industry) and/or through a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field and five years' experience in a supervisory capacity.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.

  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.

  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.

  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee's department.

  • Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.

  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.

Takes corrective action as required. * Reviews and approves invoices in accordance with budget * Directly responsible for evaluating the performance of contract security and reviewing/approving incident reports generated by contract security. Takes corrective action as required. * Keeps General Manager and other corporate departments abreast of project occurrences and store openings and closings. * Assists General Manager in collecting delinquent payments from tenants. * Develops and maintains positive relations with city/local officials. * Manages all service contractors to full compliance within the scope and specified guidelines. * Conducts performance appraisals and recommends increases. * Acts as manager on duty during holidays, and weekends. * Conducts daily maintenance inspection of the center daily for cleanliness, repairs or improvements needed. * Participates in annual budget preparation as it relates to safety and maintenance of the center, grounds and equipment. * Completes other assignments as deemed appropriate by the General Manager. * Regular, predictable attendance * Punctuality * Supervises hourly personnel. Skills (Desired Abilities): * Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the building, electrical, or mechanical trade. * Willingness to be on call 24 hours a day. Qualifications (Education and Experience): * Bachelor's Degree in Business or related area, OR * Completion of a related course of study from an accredited technical or trade school. * Five (5) years of experience in related work, two (2) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
