Position Overview
The Director of Event Marketing supports the division Arts and Events and the division of Athletics through effective leadership of marketing teams in both divisions with the empowerment to plan, execute, and oversee marketing efforts to generate ticket revenue, monitor and improve return on investment of event advertisement plans, find areas of cross promotion between campus destination marketing units, and maximize brand exposure for Butler's non academic revenue generating units.
The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating destination marketing efforts with the University's centralized marketing to ensure overall brand and strategy are being aligned with event marketing efforts. The Director of Event Marketing will report to the Vice President for Arts, Events, and Enterprise Management.
Responsibilities
Development, execution, and oversight of event marketing plans and campaigns.
Monitor and review existing reporting, including KPIs and ROAS to ensure alignment to overall departmental strategy and identify opportunities for improvement.
Improved internal processes and project management.
Cross divisional alignment on destination marketing efforts for an improved user experience.
Management of show marketing budgets, as well as divisional brand marketing budgets.
Assessment of current marketing and advertising spends with better alignment to the market and industry standard.
Management of the events marketing team, providing leadership, direction, and assistance with execution of tasks.
Creation and implantation of a brand strategy to align the work of the Butler Arts and Events Center against and ahead of its peers in the market and Midwest (Old National Center, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Chicago Theater (Illinois), Aronoff Center (Ohio), The Ryman (Tennessee), the Fabulous Fox (Missouri))
Develop and lead alignment and coordination between Ticketing, Programming, and Marketing departments to ensure high level efficiency of cross department operations.
Identify and implement other key areas of improvement - email/text message nurturing, event surveys, etc.
Key Performance Metrics:
Improved net event revenue realized through strategic and tactical advertising plans
Greater community reach for free and discounted events through targeted campaigns and promotions
Increased attendance at events from improved brand awareness
Increased website and social media traffic and engagement through better awareness and improved strategy
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in related field
10+ years experience in marketing, with an emphasis of experience in client management work
Strong leadership skills with experience leading a diverse team
Experience managing multiple clients/budgets simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the arts and athletics in the Indianapolis market
Understanding of event marketing software, and experience with Ticketmaster CRM
