Position Summary:
The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for all aspects of environmental safety, management and administration for Phoenix Transit locations. Ensures that both facilities are completely compliant with all local, county, state and federal requirements, by developing, implementing and monitoring environment strategies and programs as required by the Client and Transdev.
Essential Job Functions:
Endures Compliance with FTA and other federal, state and local regulatory requirements
Complete chemical inventory, data collection, and environmental record keeping
Effective environmental compliance and sustainability management
Perform required environmental training for all staff
Ensure all environmental requirements are met for Transdev operated vehicles, materials and equipment
Provide a clean and safe environment
Develop and monitor the success of comprehensive programs created to manage and measure air quality, underground storage tanks, hazardous materials, stormwater and water pollution control. Examples include: ISO 14001, EMP, EMS, etc.
Supervise and develop facility technicians
Ensure cooperative and professional relationships are developed with the client.
Must demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possess good judgment and discretion.
24/7 accountability for the duties listed over the site and is expected to report, work or manage any issues outside of normal business hours
Other duties as required
Minimum Requirements:'
At least three years environmental experience and training in air quality, hazardous materials, stormwater and water pollution control and underground tank management.
Experience in developing and implementing environmental management systems such as and ISO 14001, EMP, EMS, etc.as well as policies and procedures.
Extensive understanding of FTA, federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements as it relates to Air Qualify, Hazardous Materials Management, Clean Water and pollution control
Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills
Chemical inventory, data collection, and environmental record keeping
Experience in managing and developing other employees
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in health & Safety, Environmental, Business Administration preferred
OSHA, Accident Investigation, Safety & Security Certifications preferred
Experience:
5 + years' experience in Environmental management and administration
Overseeing large location with greater than 500 employees
Working in a union environment; assisting with union negotiations/grievances
Travel requirement (as a percent) 10%
