Primary Job Function:

The Director of Enterprise Application Services is responsible for managing the development of a mixed portfolio of business applications and integrations. This role requires strong leadership and productive relationships with various disciplines across the enterprise. A successful candidate will work directly with business stakeholders to understand their needs and architect and implement innovative solutions to deliver the desired outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hire, develop, evaluate, reward and retain a highly qualified team of enterprise software development professionals.

  • Work closely with the Chief Technology Officer and business stakeholders to design, build and apply software capabilities that drive growth in the business and alignment of technology with corporate strategy.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate new technologies, software, and vendor platforms, ensuring that requirements and operational ownership are clearly understood.

  • Drive enterprise architecture efforts to build out a modern architecture to scale and support data access and analytics across the firm.

  • Drive process reengineering efforts to streamline critical operations by automating manual processes and improving the effectiveness of Thornburg's daily operational workflows.

  • Provide guidance and advocacy regarding prioritization of enterprise software development investments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field - required.

  • Minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience in a senior level software development and design role. Deep experience with systems architecture, developing and maintaining technology platforms, software applications, and APIs.

  • Demonstrated success as a leader; ability to motivate and foster collaboration within a team of skilled technology professionals.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in interfacing with outsourced software partners to ensure quality of deliverables and alignment with core architecture.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing enterprise software development teams.

  • Project management skills and experience; PMP certification - preferred.

  • Experience in the financial services industry - preferred; experience in asset management - strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and how to manage teams to deliver successfully within this framework.
