The Director of Enrollment Management will report directly to the Associate Dean of Admissions and work daily with the Assistant Dean of Admissions. The Director is responsible for oversight and management of the enrollment at the medical school so as to comply with accreditation rules and regulations and insure a viable and diverse class. The Director will utilize an in-depth knowledge of both complex LCME accreditation requirements and extensive national admissions rules and regulations by the AAMC to insure compliant and effective holistic enrollment management. In addition, the Director will take the lead in development and implementation of internal admissions policy and procedures to insure the highest possible caliber of students are identified and enrolled so as to meet the overall mission of the medical school. The Director will provide leadership in the strategic planning around enrollment by working closely with faculty and school leadership to establish admissions priorities and to develop and implement systems and processes to achieve those goals. The Director will also work as a liaison with "feeder" colleges and universities with faculty advisors, deans, presidents and others as needed, in order to attract a viable and diverse applicant pool.

DUTIES / POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES WORK ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for management of the application and interview processes, to include eligibility analysis, oversight of the interview processes and communication with applicants regarding admissions decisions. Requires extensive knowledge of AAMC guidelines, federal non-discrimination laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements.

  • Development and implementation of admissions policies and procedures as needed to insure effective admissions processes and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations in collaboration with the Admissions Committee.

  • Responsible for admissions compliance with the LCME accreditation requirements and reporting in conjunction with Associate Dean and Admissions faculty chair.

  • Serve as liaison to "feeder" colleges and universities, both in and out of state- will develop professional relationships with students, faculty advisors, deans and presidents as needed to insure a viable and diverse application pool.

  • Develop familiarity with entire enrollment process and guidelines so as to assume Assistant Dean duties in his or her absence,

  • Development of strategic plan to identify the highest possible quality candidates with an eye to diversity and fit with mission.

  • Make presentations as needed outside the medical school at meetings, conferences, etc.

  • Attend Admissions Committee meetings with or in place of Assistant Dean as needed.

  • Attend and assist with Orientation for new students as needed.

  • Provide qualitative and quantitative data and internal and external reports as needed.

  • Ensure that the Admissions Office remains in full compliance with national, state, and local laws.

  • Help insure that the office protects the human rights of students, colleagues and others.

  • Work with the Assistant Dean and public relations to maximize the design, marketing, promotion, delivery, and quality of admissions outreach.

  • Represent the Admissions Office as needed to the community by attending meetings, events, conferences, seminars, etc. to ensure current feedback regarding proposed regulations, legislation, laws and admissions policies that may impact the organization, especially at the state and regional levels- must remain current on admissions trends.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, benchmarking professional standards, reviewing publications, and establishing personal networks. • Representing the organization on local, state, and national committees or organizations when possible.

  • Assist with accelerated BS/MD program and MD Early Assurance Program as needed.

  • Liaison with Program Director for Rural Outreach on high school pipeline programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE COMPETENCIES: Failure to perform duties for this position in a competent, consistent and legally compliant manner may have serious repercussions. Incorrect analysis of applications could affect the quality and diversity of a class. The ramifications of not selecting a viable class may include poor student performance, national board examination failures and even potential adverse action by the licensing and accreditation board for the medical school. Inappropriate application of admissions policies and procedures could result in liability for the school. Lack of respect for confidentiality of records could also lead to severe repercussions including sanctions for the school.

LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Valid driver's license required for travel

OTHER REQUIRED COURSE/TRAINING IN: Must know and understand and be able to apply AMCAS guidelines for admissions processes, LCME accreditation guidelines, federal laws pertaining to admissions, and applicable internal policies and procedures in addition to the platform WebAdmit.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Health Care, Business Administration, Public Administration, Education or Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education required.

Experience

  • One year of higher education experience. Part-time work or the like would be considered as acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree

Experience

  • Three years or more of experience in responsible positions within higher education preferred.

  • Two years of experience in higher education admissions (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Familiarity with medical school or health care education (preferred).
