This Director for Engineering in our Seattle's office, is a newly created role within Splunk's Core Products division. Success will be measured by the ability to build, lead, and navigate your team in our overall engineering strategy.
You will seamlessly integrate within Splunks deeply innovative culture, while rapidly contributing to our outstanding record for successfully delivering the most widely recognized and market leading solutions. You are a seasoned leader with a proven history for building and managing both established and emerging engineering talent, while fostering an environment of inclusion, inspiration, and innovation.

We are looking for a proven, seasoned engineering leader to lead this engineering platform development. Search is at the heart of Splunk, you will build and lead the team that will be working on our Search Processing Language and other technologies that will power the next generation of Splunk and enable ever deeper customer insights.
In this role, you will
Hire and build out a new team within an existing engineering organization.
Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
Champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
Plan and support career development.
Recruit and retain top talent.
Be an advocate of scalable and extensible, recoverable, manageable architecture for Core products and services.
Strong technical acumen; creativity; interpersonal skills; emotional intelligence.
Experience leading engineering teams working on enterprise systems distributed systems big data cloud services development.
Experience working in a matrixed environment with distributed accountabilities and unclear precedents.
Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
Proven track record of delivering scalable, global, efficient and reliable software systems.
Broad understanding of various cloud development technologies and trends.
