We are looking for a Director of Engineering who will lead an existing team, hire & grow amazing software engineers, be a technology voice in the industry, drive a technology agenda forward, and be responsible for translating business goals and product initiatives into a SaaS product offering.

What you will be doing:

  • Coaching, mentoring, training and developing the team. Engineers feel motivated when they feel like they're delivering and learning. Help make that happen.

  • Delivering quality releases in bite-sized chunks.

  • Driving positive change to grow the team and challenge status quo.

  • Ensuring easily maintainable code by creating and enforcing technical standards.

  • Making sure the product is performant, stable and scalable.

  • Leading Engineering while partnering with other disciplines for results.

Here is what you will need to know/have:

  • Track record of leading Managers across multiple product lines.

  • Passion for identifying, hiring, developing, and retaining exceptional talent.

  • Experience with full stack development.

  • Must have experience in a SaaS environment.

  • Experience maintaining a huge 24/7 SaaS product with amazing uptime.

  • Strong moral compass that aligns with department and company values.

  • Ideally, experience with the following: app platforms (ruby, node.js, java, etc), browser technologies (html, css, javascript, and client frameworks), linux, database (sql and nosql), open source software and AWS/cloud services.

  • Willingness to make the complex trade offs between standards and team agility to achieve effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Place team above ego.

  • Have launched multiple products and learned some stuff.

  • Enough humility to admit when you're wrong and learn from both your mistakes and your successes.

The Western Region Manufacturing team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Director Engineering Operations based out of Salt Lake City, UT. What You'll get to Do: * As part of executive leadership report directly to the Western Region Director of Manufacturing with oversight of the Salt Lake City (SLC), Utah Engineering Operations organization comprised of over 110 technical professionals. * Lead all technical aspects of manufacturing and test support of the SLC Manufacturing facility that employs multiple technologies and processes in the manufacture of a wide range of electro-mechanical and electro-optical sensors, circuit card assemblies, electronic components/modules, and integrated systems. * Process ownership for disciplines such as fiber optic assembly, automated production and test, optical assembly, circuit card assembly and test, systems integration, electro mechanical assembly, fine wire soldering, bonding, test equipment development and maintenance, automation development, reliability engineering, 6 sigma problem solving, SPC, data analysis and overall process control. * Responsible for the technical strategic vision of the site, execution of the engineering activities, and career development of the SLC Engineering staff in an environment that is extremely dynamic and technically challenging. * Role will also expand to include other related responsibilities as required. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Business Administration or STEM related discipline. * 10 years technical leadership experience in a high technology or manufacturing environment with a strong record of innovation and leadership. * Active DoD Secret clearance. * A background and understanding of inertial navigation and circuit card assembly & test; Experience in test equipment development and automation, including software. * A background in advanced data analysis techniques. * Experience in proposals, business development, acquisitions and associated customer interactions. * Product transition from development to production methodology and implementation. * Technical data export process/requirements, proprietary data handling, and NDAs, Intellectual property and process development. * Work that crosses typical organizational, site, sector boundaries and that consolidates, transfers manufacturing operations. * Lean/DFT principles, methodologies, and implementation; Six Sigma Black Belt certification and Six Sigma Champion. * Continuous improvement and problem solving tools and techniques.
