Brief Job Overview/Summary

Stockton University, Division of Student Affairs, seeks a Director of Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) to support its goal of promoting equitable access, academic achievement, and post-graduate success.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Transition, Access, and Retention Programs (STAR), the Director of Educational Opportunity Fund Program will serve as a member of the STAR Leadership Team. In partnership with the Director of Academic Achievement Programs, Director of Career Education and Development, Director of Military and Veterans Success Center, Director of Student Transition Programs, and other campus partners, the Director will enhance academic excellence and post-graduate success through integrated student success services and educational programs.

The Director for Educational Opportunity Fund Program will lead the division's strategies to provide students with access to robust, comprehensive student success services that support the transition and retention of EOF student participants from matriculation through graduation. In accordance with the Secretary of Higher Education, EOF regulations and guidelines, as well as the mission and strategic priorities of the Division of Student Affairs and Stockton University, the Director for Educational Opportunity Fund Program will provide leadership and vision for EOF in Galloway and Atlantic City.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead, integrate, and align the Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF in Galloway and Atlantic City) staff and service operations with New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Program, division and university priorities and national best practices. Identify and implement strategies to ensure that EOF services and programs meet the needs of diverse student communities who participate in the program (e.g., racially minoritized communities, LGBTQ+, first-generation, non-traditional, military-affiliated, etc.)

  • Identify and implement strategies and programs in collaboration with campus partners that meet specific transitional, and retention needs of EOF first-years, sophomores, juniors, seniors, transfers, and emerging student communities at the University with a focus on increasing career readiness among respective groups

  • Lead and align EOF strategies and resources with the Secretary of Higher Education, Division, and University priorities. Recommend and monitor office operations, the usage of budgets, personnel, and facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and optimal service delivery to students. Coordinate and execute all contracts for EOF

  • Lead the EOF professional and undergraduate staff in utilizing the EAB Navigate Student Success technology software and functions. Serves as the office liaison championing the EAB Navigate tool:

  • Triage EOF end-user support issues and requests

  • Interprets EOF data and reports on staff and student utilization, compliance with security, and student success outcomes, and makes recommendations to committees (i.e. Student Success Champions, Student Affairs Leadership Committee (SALC), etc.)

  • Reinforces communications (i.e. emails, webpage, social media, etc.), promotions, and training to EOF end users

  • Onboards EOF new users, updates current users on new features and access, and performs security audits

  • Lead the EOF professional and undergraduate staff in planning and implementing EOF Summer Academy, Academic Year Programs, and Student Success Coaching in collaboration with university partners in First-Year Experience; FRST Program, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs

  • Collaborate with Directors in Student Transition, Access and Retention Programs (STAR) to implement strategies that integrate, promote, and implement high-impact practices, student success initiatives, student employment, and other co-curricular and experiential learning experiences that benefit EOF participants

  • Manage the daily operations of EOF including, but not limited to: Programming, budget development and management, assessment, strategic planning, and staff supervision

  • Develop, update, and implement learning outcomes and training modules with the EOF staff to prepare and support the students and staff

  • Develop initiatives that support EOF parent and family engagement, to forge strong relationships that promote partnerships towards student success

  • Lead the Summer Academy Planning and Advisory Committee, a group comprised of faculty, staff, and students who provide feedback regarding the development of policies, programs, and initiatives related to academic, co-curricular, and residential experiences

  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with respective areas that strengthen experiences for EOF students (e.g., Academic Achievement Programs, Career Education, and Development, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Federal Work-Study, Military and Veterans Success (MVS), Student Transition Programs, University Relations and Marketing, Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, Alumni Relations, etc.):

  • Partner with Academic Achievement Programs to promote retention initiatives and high-impact practices to EOF participants

  • Partner with Career Education and Development and Academic Advising to strengthen career and major exploration strategies and partnerships to center access and opportunities from Summer Academy to graduation

  • Partner with Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to admit and verify student eligibility. Partner with Financial Aid to coordinate EOF Achieve Fund Distribution

  • Partner with Career Education and Development and Federal Work-Study Program to plan and implement career readiness initiatives that support student employees in EOF (i.e., Federal Work-Study, Instructional Assistants, Mentors, Interns, etc.)

  • Partner with Military and Veteran Success to support EOF MVS affiliated students

  • Partner with University Relations and Marketing to strengthen department internal and external visibility

  • Partner with Academic Affairs to develop and coordinate coursework to support a safe and healthy learning environment, promote belonging, engagement, and development, and enhance academic excellence and post-graduate success for EOF participants

  • Partner with Institutional Research, and conduct ongoing assessment, strengthen reporting strategies, to drive decision-making across initiatives and services

  • Partner with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to steward relationships with alum and increase individual, corporate, foundation, and government support

  • Remain current in state and national higher education trends that impact the success and retention of EOF students

  • Serve on the Vice President for Student Affairs Leadership Council, Divisional and University Committees (i.e., Board of Trustees Fellowship for Distinguished Students, First-Year Experience Committees, Advising Council, and Retention Initiatives, etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Student Transition, Access and Retention Programs, and the Vice President for Student Affairs

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited institution

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience working with students in a higher education environment

  • Prior professional experience in a functional area(s) that support the transition, success, and retention of diverse students and families

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Strong knowledge and experience facilitating student access to high impact experiential learning opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration or related field

  • Previous experience advising or teaching at the post-secondary level

  • Active membership and involvement with national college/university academic support or student success professional associations

  • Demonstrated success with integrated planning (strategic planning, budgeting, assessment, and communications) and the ability to use data for decision-making

  • Demonstrated success implementing retention programs for student success programs for BIPOC, first-generation, low-income students, etc. in a college/university setting

  • Previous experience utilizing student success management systems (e.g., EAB, Starfish, etc.)
