The Director of Early Childhood Nutrition will develop and lead our strategy for ensuring that young children have access to healthy food every day through our No Kid Hungry campaign. This is a key role internally and externally to ensure that Share Our Strength is leveraging resources to develop the best solutions for ending childhood hunger among kids aged five and younger. The Director will collaborate and coordinate with the Managing Director of the Cooking Matters campaign, that helps parents and caregivers of young kids learn how to shop and cook healthy, affordable meals. This function is new to the organization, so we require a dynamic, ambitious candidate who can lead strategy development, build partnerships, and help build knowledge and capacity across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and direct early childhood strategy for the No Kid Hungry campaign.
Working closely with Cooking Matters food skills education leadership, position Share Our Strength as a thought leader in solving for early childhood hunger.
Work with the Director of Government Relations and the Communications team to develop and inform early childhood nutrition policy agenda.
Bachelor's degree in public policy, public health, early childhood or related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of work experience, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategic plans in the private, government, or nonprofit sectors around the areas of child nutrition or early childhood development.
Entrepreneurial leader with significant creative capacity and flexibility who can be highly successful with minimal supervision.
Strong leadership skills and a strategic mindset with the ability to deliver short-term and long-term data-driven results.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including strong presentation skills and emotional intelligence.
Outstanding record of generating buy-in from, and exceeding expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
Work and/or lived experience in low-income communities, and ability to engage and communicate with partners and low-income families with respect and humility.
Understanding of social issues related to poverty and hunger.
Excellent information management and organizational skills, with great attention to detail.
