Title: Director of Early Childhood Education
Position Description: The Director of Early Childhood Education is a twelve-month administrative position responsible for planning, oversight and evaluation of programs and services designed to expand the availability of high-quality early childhood care and education opportunities consistent with the Branford Public Schools Strategic Plan.
Supervision Received: The position reports to the Assistant Superintendent & Director of Student Services
Salary: per Branford Bargaining Contract - $142,423 - $149,919
Start Date: July 2024
Position Responsibilities
Develop and manage effective district-wide programs for early childhood education including:
School-Based Pre-Kindergarten
Early Years Center
Family Resource Center
Monitor and ensure that Branford Public Schools complies with all guidance and reporting required by the CSDE, Connecticut After School Network policies, Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
Manages program budget, finances and competitive grant and entitlement funding applications and disbursement.
Coordinates the adoption and delivery of research-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum in all early childhood programming, including play-based instructional practices.
Supports the planning, delivery and evaluation of high-quality professional development for certified and non-certified staff.
Works in collaboration with the administrative team to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality programming and effective transition to kindergarten.
Coordinates district special education services for early childhood education.
Assists in the recruiting, interviewing and selection of a talented workforce.
Regularly provide feedback and formally evaluate assigned staff.
Seeks opportunities to reduce the financial burden on families while maintaining a fiscally sustainable program through fee collection.
Manages time effectively to be accessible and to ensure appropriate on-site supervision during hours of program operation.
Collaborates with building principals to sustain high-quality programming including summer camp and enrichment programs
Works in conjunction with Shoreline Adult Education to meet the goals, objectives and long-term vision of the adult education program.
Other duties as assigned.
