RiverWoods Exeter, is seeking a leader who is passionate about redefining the aging experience through the culinary lens. In this leadership role, the Director of Dining Room Operations will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Culinary Operations to lead the process for hiring, orienting and training front of the house employees through a system and process. This leader will be responsible to maintain a comprehensive, continuous training process for relevant technical and customer service skills. The candidate will create and foster a meaningful work experience by implementing and maintaining a rewards and recognition process to foster high employee engagement and retention. To accomplish this, the ideal candidate will need an innovative mindset, strong leadership, critical thinking skills, project and process management, and the ability to foster relationships. Responsible for customer service and hospitality management for culinary services for three communities within the Exeter Campus which includes, 3 main kitchens and 3 bistros, as well as a partnership with catering services.
Lead the process for hiring, orienting and training new employees.
Implement and maintain recognition and reward process to foster high employee satisfaction and retention.
Implement and maintain a menu management operating system including Point-of-Sale to manage resident meal plan offerings, accurate billing and forecasting.
Be present and engaged with residents and staff during meal times, especially during dinner meal times to assure highest food quality and service execution.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local standards and regulatory requirements by working with culinary team members, staff and the Senior Director of Culinary Ops.
Creatively solves problems and conflicts to improve resident and staff life.
A minimum of five to seven years successful experience in senior services and/or health care dining management.
Experience leading a large dining service team.
Experience monitoring and controlling operating costs within the approved operating budget.
An effective communicator with a high level of personal energy and leadership skills who can strike a balance between service demand, creativity and financial sustainability.
The ability to take work seriously but not self. A sense of humor is a must.
Prior experience in Continuing Care Retirement Communities a plus, not necessary.
Associate Degree preferred in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management.
