White Haven Center is a state-operated Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disability. The facility is in White Haven, Luzerne County, in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Director of Dietetic Services is a management- level position which collaborates with Program Services, Nursing and other facility departments to ensure that the residents receive healthy, nutritious meals and snacks consistent with their dietary needs.Directs a complete program of individualized nutritional care for the people who reside at White Haven Center.

Directs the ordering, receiving and distribution of food, supplies and equipment. Insures inspection of all deliveries of perishable foods. Writes and/or reviews specifications for all food, equipment and supplies.

Work hours and additional information:

  • Hours of work: 8:00am

  • 4:00pm, 30-minute lunch, Monday-Friday
  • Occasional weekend and holiday Administrator On Duty (AOD) rounds

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Three years of experience in the supervision of food preparation activities in an institutional food service or institutional food production operation, and a bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, dietetics, food service, culinary arts, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which included three years of experience in the supervision of food preparation activities in an institutional food service or institutional food production operation.
  • Necessary Special Requirement: This position requires certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD).

You will function as consultant/trainer to unit-based staff for language programs; make recommendations for unit-based programs; provide instruction to staff to ensure carry over of language programs. You will participate as an interdisciplinary team member in order to assure that a comprehensive program/plan is developed, which includes a speech/language/hearing program and establish use of augmentative communication devices/programs for individuals and monitor subsequent progress and techniques in order to maximize program effectiveness.
