Reporting to the Senior Vice President / Chief Development Officer, this position oversees signature fundraising events and manages a team of three professionals (two direct reports). This position is based out of the Foundation office in Rockland, MA; a hybrid work schedule is permitted.

We are seeking candidates with 3-4 years of healthcare development experience preferred; or comparable experience in a related field. Professional experience managing high caliber, successful fundraising events (such as galas, walk-a-thons, golf tournaments, etc.) required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute South Shore Health's three signature fundraising events: Moonlight & Miracles Gala, Lace Up For Cancer Walk, and Golf Classic.

  • Oversees and manages a three-person team (Senior Development Officer, Events, Development Officer, Events, and Events Specialist) who are responsible for:

o Endurance fundraising events

o Colleague campaign program

o 3rd party community fundraising

o Memorial giving campaign

  • Oversees successful plans, strategies to execution of all programs, recruitment plans through digital strategies, social media, and other forms of recruitment. Including; any rebrands, collateral, fundraising strategies, growth strategies, and more.

  • Oversees and manages a three-person team (Senior Development Officer, Events, Development Officer, Events, and Events Specialist) who are responsible for:

  • Develop and follow a business plan for each event that includes; a fundraising plan, budget, detailed event timelines, event calendar, and pre/post event tasks.

  • Oversee and partner with major gifts team with all pre-event planning and facilitate post-event follow up to maximize relationships with all participants to ensure a successful event.

  • Work with direct reports who manage logistical event components, including: site selection, program development and invitation creation, prep materials, and on-site logistics including food, florals, signage, decorations, program books, audio visual, etc.

  • Manages and oversees recruitment of volunteer committees including; Special Events Board Committee, Golf Committee, Gala Committee, and other volunteer committees as assigned.

  • Work with direct reports to develop effective and comprehensive communications plans for each event and fundraising programs. Manage the collateral design process and follow through for all marketing components. Determine visual component for event, i.e., video. Identify physicians, caregivers and grateful patients for testimonials. Oversee messaging for social media and any digital strategies.

  • Work with direct reports who manage on-site production for events, identifying clear roles and responsibilities for support staff and vendors; effectively solve problems which arise.

  • Manages and oversees recruitment of volunteer committees including; Special Events Board Committee, Golf Committee, Gala Committee, and other volunteer committees as assigned.

  • Work with direct reports to develop effective and comprehensive communications plans for each event and fundraising programs. Manage the collateral design process and follow through for all marketing components. Determine visual component for event, i.e., video. Identify physicians, caregivers and grateful patients for testimonials. Oversee messaging for social media and any digital strategies.

  • Assume direct responsibility for the careful development of each budget, including generating authorization forms for Finance approval; bill payment; and post-event expense reconciliation.

  • Analyze revenue vs. expenses as part of post-event review and identify opportunities to streamline costs and improve outcomes for future events.

  • Secure budget-alleviating in-kind donations including food, beverage, production, printing, décor, and other items to reduce event costs.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 8-10+ years of professional fundraising/development experience in a healthcare, higher education, or grassroots/non-profit environment

  • Professional experience managing high caliber, successful fundraising events (such as galas, walk-a-thons, golf tournaments, etc.) required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be able to anticipate and meet deadlines and defined goals

  • Multitasking and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently, but also as part of a team

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, required

  • Familiarity with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and Convio software preferred
