Head of Data & Analytics Technology bears responsibility on behalf of the organization to foster value creation by means of the organization's data assets and external data ecosystem. The associated tasks include:

  • Creating value through data exploitation / data sharing

  • Envisioning data-enabled strategies & enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics

  • Establishing data governance and specifying enterprise information policy

  • Establishing data technology. Drive data automation and digitization

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take authority, responsibility and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets, and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance. Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities.

  • Work with functional leaders to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset - to exploit data using research and analytics to maximize the return on data assets. Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of data. Establish the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making

  • Define data and analytics strategy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the data and data technology strategy in collaboration with IT and business functions.

  • Institute an enterprise operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.

  • Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise's data and analytics platform for digital business.

  • Lead research, strategy creation and development of new data products or services to expand categories, monetize data (directly and indirectly) and grow company revenue.

  • Expand the organization's data and technology offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches ( ML, AI), focusing them on digital business innovation.

  • Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across the enterprise.

  • Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to enable business innovation throughout the organization. Create and oversee a centralized service for sourcing data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability and cost-effectiveness. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data. Lead regulatory and compliance programs related to data assets.

  • Organize and lead a data and analytics governance council that meets at least quarterly with representation of all business units.

  • Participate in the following governance domains: business strategy and planning, management and financial reporting, IT and technology strategy and planning, risk and compliance, and marketing strategy and planning. This includes participating in other governance forums where the Head of Data & Technology input is desired.

  • Define, manage and ensure an adequate information trust model, controls for master data and metadata management, including reference data.

  • Lead the development, publishing and maintenance of the organization's information architecture, as well as a roadmap for its future development, ensuring that it matches and supports business needs.

  • Partner with IT & oversee the integration and staging of data, and the development and maintenance of the data lakes, data warehouse and data marts, for use by analysts throughout the organization

Education

Master's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Academic qualification or professional training and experience in data regulatory areas are also desirable.

Experience

  • 10 or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, financial or information or IT management - recently at or near the team leader level. Broad business experience within the vertical industry is desired.

  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.

  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.

  • Strategy and management consulting experience desirable.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.

  • Demonstrated leadership; proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary talent teams in new endeavors and delivering solutions.

  • Proven data literacy

  • The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quant stakeholders.
  • Information strategy experience
  • Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance.
  • Analytical skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with business information generation and analysis methods.

  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.

  • Gravitas to develop a framework for information and analytics governance, as well as to sell and embed it in all levels of the business.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists. The candidate should be able to "sell" ideas and processes internally at all levels, including the board and investors.

  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPG's business processes and resultant information needs, including risk and regulatory factors relating to information flows.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following : data structure, information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices in a complex organizational environment.

  • Broad experience desired in multiple competency areas of data and analytics delivery. Examples are data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards, regulatory compliance and enterprise architecture frameworks.

YOUR ROLE The Manager of Market Information and Business Analytics plays a key role within the Beauty Division managing all aspects of Henkel's advanced analytics (Marketing Mix, Pricing and Promotion, FSI Analyses, Business Drivers, Business analysis etc.). * Work with analytic partners to deliver insights that improve ROI on key marketing activities such as advertising, trade, couponing etc. * Serve as Henkel's primary point of contact for IRI database maintenance and topline reporting * Serve as key liaison between marketing and sales to provide fact-based support regarding potential pricing actions. * Provide day to day analytic support for the Beauty Division including business performance analyses, new product tracking etc. * Provide ongoing consultations on advanced business analysis issues throughout the organization e.g. causal based forecasts, business drivers, 'Business Due-tos'. * Support the Director of Market Information and Analytics on projects supporting Henkel's global priorities. * Conduct ongoing training sessions for ABMs to further develop their analytic skills. * Introduce new analytic capabilities that help Henkel obtain competitive advantage. YOUR SKILLS * Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred, with 8+ years of focused experience working with advanced analytics and syndicated data. * Past employment at Nielsen or IRI is highly preferred. Proficient with Nielsen/IRI database mining software * Experience with managing the maintenance of large and complex databases * Proven track record of excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to interact well with all levels of Management. * Solid strategic thinker; strong thought leader; analytic rigor Henkel is an equal opportunity employer.
