Lman Manhattan Preparatory School is seeking a full-time Director of Curriculum for the 2019-20 SY. The successful applicant will serve as the academic dean PreK-12th grade and will undertake and perform the following duties:
Promote LMPS curriculum practices and professional learning communities
Facilitate the curriculum and faculty/admin targets of the LMPS Strategic Plan
Facilitate Curriculum Council meetings with directors and department chairs
Work with Head of School and divisional leaders to set goals, plan initiatives and evaluate efforts toward faculty and staff development with the intention to improve student learning.
Coordinate and evaluate the curricula and instructional programs and make appropriate recommendations for change to the Curriculum Council.
Work with the Head of School, divisional leaders and department heads to develop
curriculum consistent with school mission, vision and core values. Review current curriculum according to the LMPS curriculum renewal cycle and recommend changes based on performance data, department research and international best practices.
Develop, implement, and design a comprehensive LMPS Student Internship program.
Facilitate on-going implementation of Atlas Rubicon to map LMPS curriculum following the IB ATL model.
Promote use for curriculum communication, integration, vertical and horizontal alignment.
Monitor and facilitate accreditation; MSA (Middle States Association of Colleges and
Schools), and NIPSA (National Independent Private Schools Association)
Promote and provide leadership in professional learning for all faculty and staff. Oversee the LMPS Professional Development Program and budget for PreK-12.
Serve as Standardized Test (ERB and PSAT) Coordinator
Responsible for approving student accommodations for ACT/SAT and other standardized testing as needed (CTP4, ERB)
Collect and submit required documents by deadlines
Collaborate with Learning Specialists and Director of IB Programming regarding requests for IBO accommodations
Coordinate with the college counseling office and the Director of IB Programming to provide parent training on procedures for applying for testing with accommodations
Manage training and scheduling of proctors for tests administration PreK-12 (ERB, ACT, SAT, IB)
Manage the scheduling of test administration for students during available test windows
Support the development of common assessments and assessment policies, and provide leadership and training to teachers and administrators in the analysis of assessments to inform instruction and curriculum development including IB assessments
Research, remain current, and promote educational research and best practices
Collaborate and participate as a member of the Administrative Collaborative Team.
A minimum of five years' administrator level experience preferred
An advanced degree in educational management and leadership preferred
Experience with the International Baccalaureate program and independent schools preferred
Ability to articulate the school's Mission, Vision, and Values
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of curriculum, instruction and best practices in PreK-12th grade
Experience creating and working with upper school internship programs
Experience as a curriculum leader, and ability to articulate and communicate about curriculum and instruction to teachers, parents, and students
Experience in mentoring, coaching and supervising teachers
Developed and demonstrated interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills
Knowledge of and experience with educational technology systems and practices
Highly developed collaborative leadership skills in working with parents, students, teachers and administrators
Experience and expertise with ManageBac, Naviance, Power School, and Atlas mapping
Highly refined interpersonal skills and proven success working collaboratively in a leadership position
