Position Summary:
The Nursing Director provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the care provided for patients in the service line.

Responsibilities include:

  • Fiscal

  • operational functions

  • strategic planning

  • program development

  • 24 hour accountability

The Director performs delegated duties and functions within the philosophy and overall scope of responsibility. The Director displays positive support for the values and mission of Wesley Medical Center.

Required Registration, Licensure or Certification

  • Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy

Education or Experience

  • Master's Degree (or current enrollment) in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field Five years of progressive nursing management experience

Preferred Education or Experience

  • Clinical knowledge appropriate for service line

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively

  • Possess personal computer skills

  • Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize

  • Possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills

What You Will Do As an Associate with Via Christi Health, you will have the opportunity to assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serves as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provides guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership. Responsibilities: * Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems. * Recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate. * Compounds and dispenses medications for accurate delivery to patients. Provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients. * Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care. * Oversees technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies. * Assists with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs. Provides patient counseling when required. What You Will Need Licenses/Certifications/Registration: * Required Credential(s): * Pharmacist credentialed from the Kansas Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
