Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is a 133 bed-acute care facility, located in the beautiful city of Fredericksburg, known for its charm, family owned shops, and local restaurants. Responsible for the planning, direction, development, coordination and control of activities concerned with Critical Services (Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, and Centralized Telemetry Monitoring). Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients in accordance with age related and individual needs, physician orders, hospital policy standards of care and nursing practice. Responsible for the overall management of the department's daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by upper management.

The Department Director assumes quality service on a 24 hour basis. Is responsible for meeting Joint Commission standards, complying with organizational & corporate policy and procedures, for promoting teamwork for nursing staff, physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external satisfaction and for appropriate resource management.



Ability to serve the following patient population: adult, and geriatric. Must demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs, having knowledge of normal growth and development and having an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.



SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Manages the fiscal and clinical operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number of qualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.


    1. Integrates department services with the hospitals primary function maintaining communication with medical and nursing staffs, Administration, patients and their families/significant other. Coordinates and integrates services within departments.


    1. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services. Supervises nursing staff and assures staff competency.


    1. Conducts ongoing assessment and improvement of the department's performance. Promotes the Quality Management program of the facility maintaining appropriate quality control programs (where applicable).

5.Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space and resources needed. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.


    1. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.


    1. Develops goals and objectives for assigned area(s) of responsibility and participates in development of goals and objectives for the Nursing Department.


    1. Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for persons in the department.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

Required- Five (5) years current nursing experience

Preferred- Two (2) years Previous experience in Nursing Director capacity

EDUCATION

Required- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Preferred- BSN or related health degree is preferred.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse.

BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through the American Heart Association. ACLS for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association
