Responsible for the planning, direction, development, coordination and control of activities concerned with Critical Services (Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, and Centralized Telemetry Monitoring). Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients in accordance with age related and individual needs, physician orders, hospital policy standards of care and nursing practice. Responsible for the overall management of the department's daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by upper management.
The Department Director assumes quality service on a 24 hour basis. Is responsible for meeting Joint Commission standards, complying with organizational & corporate policy and procedures, for promoting teamwork for nursing staff, physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external satisfaction and for appropriate resource management.
Ability to serve the following patient population: adult, and geriatric. Must demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs, having knowledge of normal growth and development and having an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
5.Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space and resources needed. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.

Required- Five (5) years current nursing experience
Preferred- Two (2) years Previous experience in Nursing Director capacity
Required- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Preferred- BSN or related health degree is preferred.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse.
BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through the American Heart Association. ACLS for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association
