Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years of experience developing conversational interaction models using platforms such as Alexa Skills

• Bachelor's degree in cognitive science, interaction design, computer science, linguistics, psychology, HCI, human factors, other related field or equivalent work experience

• Demonstrated experience leading conversational design teams

• Demonstrated ability with recruiting, hiring and retaining design teams

• Proven experience using Kit, Amazon Lex, Dialogflow, IBM Watson Assistant or similar conversational platforms

• Advanced demonstrated experience collaborating with technical and business teams

• Advanced demonstrated experience translating technical requirements to internal and external audiences

• Advanced experience designing multimodal (voice and visual) user experiences through wireframing, including visual elements

• Advanced experience with speech recognition or telephony software

• Advanced experience with speech design, voice user interface design and natural-language interface design

• Experience with chatbot testing methodologies, tools and processes

• Conceptual knowledge in a technical field, such as software engineering, data engineering or data science

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• 10+ years' experience in IT, Product or Design, 5+ years' experience specifically in AI or Automation technology

• Deep understanding of automation and AI technologies and applications

Job Summary

As the Director of Conversational Design, you'll shape the vision for the design and development of AI powered virtual assistants. You'll provide direction and guidance for your team's overall growth and output and build a strong conversational design practice and influence product and business strategy. You'll define the requirements for artificial intelligence (AI) action and language necessary to guide the client. You'll develop team members while providing your subject matter expertise for team training materials and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a conversational design practice that designs conversational interfaces for voice (Alexa or Interactive Voice Response) interactions and text-based chatbots

• Establish and drive the design strategy of new Conversational AI capabilities

• Champion creating a differentiated and competitive conversational experience by using storytelling and persuasion to connect strategy and vision to business-as-usual work

• Drive quality and user-centric conversational experiences and guide the team to develop best practices

• Develop an emerging understanding of broader organizational context and goals

• Develop and measure key performance indicators that correlate with business revenue and financial key performance indicators to define conversational design strategy, benchmark and track performance and measure position in the marketplace

• Hire and retain top conversational design talent by driving career development and performance

• Collaborate with technical stakeholders and non-technical stakeholders to define design requirements

• Develop highly innovative solutions and recommend to executive leadership for prioritization

• Drive best practices from trends and changes in the broader technology landscape

• Present team best practices, case studies and success stories both internally and externally
