The Director of Continuous Improvement collaborates with the Regional Vice President and the Corporate Transformation Group to develop, organize, track and implement the Company's initiatives designed to drive cost and waste out of the operations. This position is also a key resource for Lean implementation across the individual regions tasked with the identification of key leads within each warehouse to lead Lean initiatives within the operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the implementation and tracking of the Company's continuous improvement initiatives within their region

  • Lead the region in achieving the established financial goals for waste reductions

  • Lead, communicate and teach LEAN processes and procedures throughout their region

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Transformation Group on the development of new ideas for improvements at Commissary on-sites and regional warehouse operations

  • Attend and lead, where appropriate, the weekly reporting meetings, LEAN and 4DX WIGS

  • Communicate goals and track initiatives with the Regional Vice President and Transformation Group

  • Other duties as assigned by Regional Vice President and Transformation

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university; or 7 to 10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

VIEW JOBS 10/24/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-22T00:00 Bayer is looking for a North America Row Crops MPS Continuous Improvement Lead to be located in Missouri, Illinois, or Iowa; reporting to the NA Row Crop MPS Lead. This position will provide leadership for Monsanto Production System (MPS) Sustainability & Continuous Improvement efforts at sites. The candidate will coach and mentor MPS sites, working closely with site leads, regional MPS implementation leads, regional crop leads, CoE, process engineering team, change management team and HR team. Key Responsibilities: * Technical * Develop robust understanding of MPS methodology, lean content and change management approach to successfully coach and help MPS implemented sites * Review opportunities and findings at specific site and share them across other sites * Guide teams to size the value improvements and prioritize initiatives * Coach / guide the team to ensure the recommendations and actions improve value for the site and Bayer (in alignment with Strive for Five goals and AM2020 targets) and can be implemented sustainably * Coordinate across Production CoE MPS Leads and Regional MPS implementation leads for standard implementation & sustainability of MPS across sites and regions * Lead best practices sharing across sites * Update the MPS standards in collaboration with Production CoE and other MPS Implementation Leads * Act as an SME and facilitate the continuous improvement journey * MPS Leadership * Co-Lead / Lead MPS sustainability & continuous improvement efforts at sites in coordination with regional and local site staff * Review MPS journey status at each site and challenge teams to develop action plans to close gaps to plan e.g. timelines, practice maturity progression, financial targets, adoption and sustainability of improvements * Ensure people changes are on track to support sustainable changes including an emphasis on change management and the implementation of competency frameworks and role descriptions * Lead and facilitate milestone reviews and provide specific MPS workshops as needed * Coordinate with stakeholders at site, regional leaderships, and production COE to remove roadblocks to successful site MPS journey * Maintain regular touch points with site and regional leadership, and the CoE * Validate and report benefits (operational and financial results) from site * Develop Executive Summary of MPS Journey status at each site * Managing Change * Ensure change management requirements are being addressed and coordinate change efforts to implement and sustain improvement * Ensure adequate and timely communication at sites * Ensure adequate training of site personnel when needed. Deliver trainings, as required * Coach site leads, areas lead on the MPS concepts. * Travel Expectations * Full-time accountability to MPS with 60-80% of time traveling expectation to remote sites for sustainability MPS activities Required Skills/Experience: * Bachelor's degree in agriculture, engineering disciplines, supply chain management, or related field * 5 years' experience in operations and management areas * Prior experience working in production system environment * Leadership experience in manufacturing or supply chain * Experience in managing and developing teams * Skilled at leading, managing conflict, and negotiating with cross-functional teams * Strong ability to influence others * Demonstration of courage, candor and initiative in past assignments * Willing and able to travel 60-80% of the time Desired Skills/Experience: * Advanced degree in supply chain management * Additional methodology training and certifications (e.g., Lean certification, Six-sigma black belt certification etc.) * Understanding of plant operations * Focus on value delivery (e.g. cost reduction, productivity improvement, behaviors, and practices) * Ability to plan, execute, and validate business benefits * Ability to work well cross functionally and globally * Reputation that commands thoughtful hearing from management at all levels * Opinion leader among peers and team * Experience with large scale change Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto's leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer's leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
