What You Will Do

This role requires candidates who are great managers of people, processes, and projects, with a record of success in cultivating positive and productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Project Executives, Project Managers, owners, owner representatives, developers, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and representatives of government agencies. The ability to articulate the vision, communicate purpose, and outline expectations to sustain a strong safety culture, cultivate employee engagement, support professional development, and build a unified team to achieve successful project outcomes.

How You Will Make a Difference

Safety

  • Be a champion of our safety culture.

  • Ensure proper safety behavior.

  • Responsible for the safe conduct of field teams to ensure a zero-accident culture.

  • Partner with Safety Manager to promote company safety initiatives.

  • Enforce safety plans to ensure no-excuse compliance with safe work practices.

Revenue

  • Open 2-3 new locations per year

  • Establishing 35% EBITDA per location by year 2 for each

  • Double revenue in two years, then double it in four by growing current business and through expansion with new locations.

  • Develop a strategy for growth that considers geography, project type, and market segment.

  • Partner with Business Development to identify and pursue projects that maximize strategic and financial opportunities.

  • Thoughtful decisions on capital equipment investment with a focus on growth

Growth

  • Grow additional lines of business in the construction service sector, i.e. temporary fencing.

  • Partner with COO on developing best in class fence business

  • Partner with Director of Sales to grow the fencing business to 4 full time routes within 2 years at a target EBITDA of 35%

  • Identify and pursue other adjacent lines of business opportunities

Develop and cultivate strong relationships with valued customers.

  • Maintain superior relationships with state and municipal Departments of Transportation and Public Works Departments

  • Manage Client relations on projects, fostering a "win-win", partnering environment, while maintaining strict commercial and contractual management of the project

  • Developing new business opportunities and generating future work by cultivating and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.

  • In conjunction with other departments, achieve a 6% or less over 90-day AR in construction services billing.

Develop and cultivate strong internal relationships.

  • Develop and mentor team members in their career development and progress; assist, provide, and promote training and staff.

  • Develop the next generation of field leaders to support our growth and geographic expansion.

  • Develop and mentor team members in their career development and progress; assist, provide, and promote training and staff.

  • Partner with local operational leaders to find up and coming leaders in the Traffic Control field

  • Partner with HR to hire the best front-line candidates to fit our core values first, and technical experience second.

  • Partner with HR to source and identify "A" leadership talent for each location.

  • Establish tactical goals to ensure we celebrate the small wins.

  • Create an environment of cultural safety among the front-line team. We want them to know their ideas matter and that we value their contribution to the team.

  • Implement quality control metrics.

  • Identify and monitor key metrics for different lines of businesses.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or equivalent work experience.

  • 15+ years of construction operations experience with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.

  • Experience in heavy civil, vertical or commercial construction is required.

  • Experience in working with public agencies (Departments of Transportation, Public Works Departments) is a plus.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; walking and standing are required only occasionally.

  • This position will require up to 20% travel.

  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR Must maintain a valid driver's license during entire employment
