As the Director of Construction Projects for Amherst, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of construction projects, from the initial business plan through to completion. Your role will be critical in ensuring the development and execution of comprehensive business plans, project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. You will play a key role in maximizing return on investment and maintaining stringent quality and compliance standards across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Development:

  • Develop detailed business plans and construction plans in alignment with company goals.

  • Create and refine project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.

  • Lead the planning and definition of project ROI, ensuring alignment with financial goals and market trends.

  • Leadership and Team Building:

  • Assemble and lead project teams, ensuring optimal collaboration and efficiency.

  • Coach and mentor project managers and other construction staff.

  • Facilitate communication and ensure alignment among project stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Approval:

  • Present project plans and updates to investment committees and executive leadership for approval.

  • Negotiate with and manage expectations of stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, and community groups.

  • Project Execution and Oversight:

  • Oversee the execution of approved projects, ensuring they adhere to planned scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Monitor construction processes, addressing and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

  • Implement risk management strategies to minimize project risks.

  • Financial and Performance Analysis:

  • Regularly report on project status, financials, and key performance indicators to senior management.

  • Conduct detailed risk and financial analyses to anticipate and mitigate potential issues.

  • Evaluate project outcomes against initial ROI projections and identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities.

  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal standards.

  • Oversee quality assurance processes to maintain the highest standards of construction and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in construction management or project management, with a proven track record in overseeing large-scale construction projects.

  • Strong leadership skills and experience building and managing high-performing teams."
