If you want to grow your skills and develop your career, find out more at The PositionDirector of Communications Job Summary Based at our North America headquarters in Roswell, Georgia, this newly created role as the Performance Minerals Americas Business Area Director of Communications will drive the communication function to ensure it is entirely focused on the requirements of the business.

Reporting to the the Group Global Communications VP Director (based in Paris) and to the Senior VP as a member of the leadership team, this individual will work collaboratively with senior regional leadership to develop and implement communication strategies aligned with global strategies that will have the greatest impact in the North American market, as well as help build awareness and a positive reputation for Imerys in the region. The Business Area Director of Communications will have responsibility for ensuring appropriate implementation and adaptation of global initiatives and messages; stakeholder/media relations; issues management; public affairs/government relations; litigation communications; and corporate brand. Key responsibilities:

Develop and be accountable for the communications strategy (internally and externally) including messages, existing channels, change management and tools for the Business Area in line with Group framework and the global transformation. Organize, structure and manage the communications resources within the Business Area and ensure cascading of information to all employees towards all facilities. Serve as the primary on-the-record spokesperson for Performance Minerals Americas BA for managing press and crisis communication in the region (following agreed crisis communication process). Develop, coordinate and implement when appropriate effective customer-related communication campaigns in collaboration with Marketing teams including trade show and event organization, advertising, literature, press relations, website management, surveys Keep abreast of and propose innovative technologies in collaboration with the Group and other BAs to promote competitive differentiation for the business and its products in the marketplace to generate new opportunities and leads.

Advise leaders and Senior leadership team, while adhering to global communications practice standards be part of the region decision making process, participating in appropriate leadership forums. Be the voice of the Groups main initiatives: Safety, customer excellence, innovation, CSR, IT.

Advise other departments (e.g. Sales, Operations, Safety, etc.) on communications Work closely with other Heads of Communications to ensure coordination and alignment of messages and activities. Counsel senior leaders on communications and public affairs risks and opportunities .


Min. 10 years of relevant experience expected. Bachelors degree required. Significant corporate/strategic communications and public relations experience that includes a blend of advocacy and media relations.

Expert in all areas of communications scope: Corporate reputation Products communications / Operational marketing Internal communications Governance Counsel Deep understanding of the relevant industry and business practices. Ability to interact with senior leaders and engage in high-level business focused discussions and decisions.
