Job Summary:

The Director of Communication will play a pivotal role in overseeing the communication operations of our EMS Dispatch Center. This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of emergency communication systems, and a proven track record of optimizing dispatch center efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing a team of communication professionals, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the overall effectiveness of our EMS services.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to optimize EMS Dispatch Center operations.

  • Provide visionary leadership to the communication team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the dispatch center remains at the forefront of emergency communication.

Team Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team of communication professionals.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional development.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the EMS Dispatch Center to ensure timely and accurate emergency response.

  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency in communication processes.

  • Collaborate with technology and IT teams to optimize the use of communication systems and tools.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal departments, emergency service providers, and external agencies.

  • Serve as a liaison between the EMS Dispatch Center and relevant community stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Emergency Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency communication or dispatch center management.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and lead a team.

  • Strong knowledge of communication systems, technologies, and emergency response protocols.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make critical decisions effectively.

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in emergency services.

  • Hospital Transfer Center Experience preferred.
