This position is responsible for comprehensive clinical pharmacy services leadership for the Renown Health Network, including acute hospitals outpatient infusion, and ambulatory pharmacy services. The Clinical Pharmacy Director ensures the delivery of safe, effective and accountable clinical pharmacy services across the continuum to ensure high performance patient experiences of care and clinical excellence for the people we serve.
Nature and Scope
Plans, organizes, and manages assigned departmental activities with a focus on value. Develops goals and objectives, establishes and implements policies and procedures for assigned departmental operation.
Designs workflows and processes reflective of current best practices.
Leverages resources and personnel to generate value-added outcomes.
Maintain current knowledge of the latest information concerning all aspects of the pharmacy profession and provide pharmacy staff with optimal tools for clinical pharmacy practice.
Oversees the organizational process for assessing the value of an individual medication.
Coordinates and manages the medication use evaluation program.
Reviews department performance, effects change as needed to deliver value to our patients and customers while assuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinates and manages the activities of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) and personnel assuring adequate provision of service and measurement/reporting of key metrics.
Responsible for ongoing assessment and development of pharmacy clinical drug protocols and collaborative practice agreements
Assures/coordinates clinical support for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and its associated subcommittees, including oversight of electronic medical record order set review / approval process, and pharmacy participation in development of care management guidelines.
Maintains formulary compliance and medication safety through the electronic medical record.
Evaluate and maintain organizational medication safety practices, including adverse drug event monitoring and reporting and coordinate departmental participation in root cause analysis. Oversees clinical drug research including Research Committee/IRB support and investigational drug control.
Recommends and initiates short- and long-term programs. Develops plans and determines operations and services to obtain objectives within budget in accordance with overall system policies.
Assures appropriate management of Pharmacy Practice Residency Programs via the residency program directors.
Coordinates and manages pharmacy student training with affiliated schools of pharmacy.
Collaborates with medical group leadership area, essential services to support care standardization initiatives.
Responsible for compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards as they apply to assigned duties and responsibilities. Maintains department reports and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Selects, trains/orientates, assigns and develops departmental staff. Develops standards of performance and monitors and supervises staff; evaluates performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action. Encourages professional development of departmental personnel through in-service education and outside conferences.
Coordinates and assists with the maintenance and /or publication of the hospital formulary and other departmental educational tools.

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. An advanced pharmacy or business degree and/or ASHP accredited residency are preferred.
A minimum of 5 years hospital pharmacy or equivalent management experience is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Pharmacist license is required.
Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification is preferred.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
