As a Director of Clinical Operations, you will:


  • Participate in/encourage quality assessment and improvement activities. Generate reports for regional, divisional and corporate offices.

  • Review and evaluate resources and staffing and ensures talent, manpower and resources are in place to meet the clinical needs and objectives. Assist in identification and utilization of appropriate divisional/corporate resources to meet established performance standards.

  • Ensure branches and programs are in compliance with standards/company policies/procedures and external regulatory requirements. Ensure that clinical associate documentation meets these requirements. Review and adhere to all Company policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook.

  • Consult with regional/divisional/corporate staff and operational delivery/business contacts to identify solutions to location/region needs/concerns.

  • Serve as an expert resource to the branch for patient intake/inquiries, the assessment of patient needs and clinical oversight. Is responsible for coordinating with other internal/external expert areas to assist branch issues or inquiries.

  • Develop and implement appropriate support plan to meet specific, identified objectives for support activities and respond to negative trends in performance metrics (clinical outcomes, field audit results, etc.) by assisting location managers in the development of action plans to resolve local issues.

  • Mentor and direct operations to ensure the provision of quality service is consistent with applicable government laws/regulations and corporate policies/guidelines/standards.

  • Collaborate with Operations Management to assist in meeting their business and clinical objectives - supporting/maximizing current business activities, future growth and provision of quality patient care.

  • Mentor office management in understanding clinical aspects of the reimbursement process, (e.g., utilization management, focused medical reviews, denials, etc.) and provide education to improve documentation ensuring accurate reimbursement for services.

  • Provide direction regarding clinical process improvement methods and guide associates in the implementation of new process/procedures/methods.

  • Provide education/training on Company policy, clinical process and procedures to operations and branch management, and clinicians in settings ranging from one-on-one sessions to group facilitation.

  • Facilitate implementation of Company initiatives, changes in policy/regulation/process/procedures.

  • Collaborate and coordinate efforts with the Clinical Operations department and other pertinent entities to ensure consistent direction to field locations and support in meeting company goals and objectives.

  • Maintain ongoing clinical knowledge through internal and/or external training programs, provide interpretation of knowledge and direction to staff.

  • Develop and prepare communications to keep operations management and clinical operations informed of status, problems, achievements, etc.

  • Proactively identify issues impacting patient care and/or office operations and involve up-line operations management and/or clinical operations, as indicated.

Required Skills


  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or the equivalent OR:

  • A diploma from an accredited Physical Therapy Program and current unrestricted licensure to practice as an RN, Physical Therapist in the state(s) required.

  • A minimum of eight years clinical experience including two years in home care environment generally required.

  • Master's degree and/or supervisory/management experience required-minimum of 4 years - multi site experience.

About the Opportunity In conjunction with the Executive Director, the DCS is responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, management and supervision of all clinical operations. The DCS assures quality of care by reviewing and assessing services and overall compliance. Compensation is based on experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Under direction of the Executive Director, plans, coordinates, directs and controls the operations of the Agency. Oversees the nursing staff, ensuring that the team follows the established policies and procedures and complies with all applicable standards and regulations. Participates in the development, review and revision of policies and procedure; goals and objectives; and standards of care relevant to patient services and personnel functions. Assures, promotes, and assesses compliance with regulatory agency standards. Responsible for the design of workflow procedures. Identifies and monitors the achievement of desired clinical outcomes to include assessment, physician orders, insurance authorizations, utilization of services, care coordination and documentation standards. Facilitates patient care including organization and management within established policies, procedures, standards of care, budgetary parameters and strategic objectives. Coordinates all patient services by reviewing plans of treatment, assuring case conferences/interdisciplinary team meetings are conducted, reviewing clinical and progress notes, periodic patient evaluations. Responsible for developing and participating in Performance Improvement activities in accordance with organizational plans. Aids in the Agency's goal of retaining quality personnel by assisting in the hiring process, then orienting, training, evaluating and disciplining personnel within established policy. Assesses and evaluates staffing patterns for proper utilization of personnel in relation to patient care required. Ensures orientation and ongoing training programs are developed and provided for Agency personnel, and that all required training is done in a timely, complete and well documented fashion. Assists the Executive Director is ongoing performance development of staff, including coaching and annual reviews. Maintains a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, and third party payer requirements for home health and hospice reimbursement. Communicates and coordinates with physician's offices, payers, patients/families, outpatient services and inpatient coordinators, regarding the care and status of patients. Develops and implements new programs as appropriate to meet identified needs, improve clinical outcomes, and support the continuum of patient care. May perform duties as RN in the field as needed. Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Licensed RN with at least 5 years' experience in the field Valid Driver's License Current vehicle insurance Current BLS for Healthcare Workers from the American Heart Association Strong written and oral communication skills in person and over the phone Strong team skills Organized Flexible—responds well to changing priorities and conditions At least one (1) year supervisory and administrative experience Knowledge of the duties and functions of the home health and hospice agency and its relationship to the healthcare community.
