The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a joint Oregon Tech and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) program that will provide a comprehensive entry-level and post-baccalaureate DPT education, with the unique focus of preparing high quality graduates with the skills to become practitioners of choice and leaders in rural physical therapy practice. The DPT program will ensure graduates develop competence in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with health or medical conditions that may affect movement and mobility.

Graduates will complete all eligibility requirements to sit for the state licensure exam and will be prepared for employment as autonomous practitioners in a variety of clinical settings. As led by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), graduates will be encouraged to pursue advanced learning and mentorship opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • Leadership Development

Position Summary

The new Oregon Institute of Technology and Oregon Health Sciences University joint Doctor of Physical Therapy program is announcing a search for a non-tenured, full-time, 12-month, on-site Director of Clinical Education.

This program will matriculate the 2nd cohort of students in Summer 2024 and has a cap of 24 DPT students annually in a 3-year onsite program., We are seeking a dynamic and innovative team player to join our team in Klamath Falls, Oregon. This individual will primarily be responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the clinical education component of the program, including clinical site partnership development, refinement of student site matching and grading procedures, development of integrated clinical experiences, and ongoing assessment of same. The successful candidate also will have the opportunity to teach in their content area of expertise. The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment at both Oregon Institute of Technology and Oregon Health Sciences University.

Minimum Requirements Additional Requirements

  • Earned clinical (DPT) or academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, etc.) from an accredited institution (academic doctorate preferred);

  • Licensed physical therapist in any state, and be eligible for and have intent to obtain physical therapist licensure in Oregon;

  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist;

  • Two years of clinical practice with experience as a site coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor in physical therapy, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist education program.

  • Evidence of contemporary expertise in one or more content areas taught within physical therapy curriculum.

  • Able to function as a collegial and collaborative member of the OIT-OHSU DPT faculty and institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a DCE as well as evidence of an ongoing or developing record of a scholarly agenda.

  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students and ongoing scholarship.
