What We're Looking For
Baylor University is seeking a Director of Clery Compliance who will serve as the principle institutional official responsible for ensuring and monitoring all laws and regulations under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. This in-person position oversees and coordinates the institution's comprehensive program for gathering and disclosing campus safety and security information, crime statistics, and the timely preparation, submission, and dissemination of required reports, documents, and records.
A bachelor's degree in communications, criminal justice, policy administration, or a related field involving analytical, data analysis, or project management skills and five years of relevant experience of increasing responsibility in compliance, data analysis, policy management or law interpretation are required.
Required Skills & Characteristics
Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience with preparing and performing informational presentations, including the ability to respond to questions in both small and large group settings
Ability to collaborate with multiple entities to plan and accomplish objectives, and lead or coordinate ongoing multiple, large, and complex projects from conception to completion
Ability to become CJIS certified to ensure access to applicable systems for this role
Work full time in the University Compliance Services offices in Waco, TX
Preferred Skills
Three years of experience related to a Clery Act Compliance program including drafting and publishing an Annual Fire Safety and Security Report
National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals (NACCOP) Clery Compliance Officer Certification
Experience with handling of confidential information within public safety records management systems, or similar materials
Three or more years of work experience with an institution of Higher Education
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
The Director of Clery Compliance responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serving as Baylor University's designated 'Campus Safety Survey Administrator', (as explained within Department of Education correspondence) who submits annual crime and fire statistics to the Department of Education, as required
Developing, maintaining, and educating on Clery compliance policies and procedures
Facilitating preparation, publication, and distribution/notification of the Annual Fire Safety and Security Report (AFSSR)
Providing quality assurance pertaining to proper crime classifications, daily crime log entries, and timely warning determination forms
Gathering crime and disciplinary referral information for statistical analysis from internal and external resources such as Student Conduct, Campus Living & Learning, Title IX, Baylor University Police Department, and local law enforcement agencies
Collaborating with Baylor University Department of Public Safety and contributing to assessment of Timely Warnings/Emergency Notifications/Safety Alerts to the community which may require fielding calls and information outside of normal business hours
Monitoring trends in law and policy change to ensure Baylor is compliant with the most recent rules and processes
Coordinating and leading the Clery Compliance Committee
Serving as the Clery Act Compliance Partner for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Compliance Leadership Group
Supervising the Clery Compliance Specialist
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
Ability to comply with University policies and procedures
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
