Job Summary:
This position exists for the primary purpose of engaging MWPA majors and LBC non-majors in the choral art and related activities at a high level of artistic excellence

    Physical Requirements:

\t

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

\t

  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    Education and Experience:
    Required:

\t

  • Master's degree in Choral Conducting or Music Education.

\t

  • A high level of demonstrable performance artistry and stylistic diversity.

\t

  • A well-articulated understanding of the integration of the Christian faith and artistic endeavor.

\t

  • Experience and expertise in another of the following areas: theory and composition, music education, musical theatre, jazz, or instrumental studies.
    Preferred:

\t

  • Doctorate in Music.

\t

  • Teaching and advising experience at the undergraduate level.

\t

  • Teaching experience at the K-12 level.
    Required Skills/Abilities:

\t

  • An ability to work collaboratively.

\t

  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism while motivating and educating students in an engaging manner concerning music and a biblical worldview.

\t

  • Proficiency as a communicator in written and oral formats.

\t

  • An ability to design instruction, develop new courses, and assess the overall success of courses.

\t

  • A desire to mentor students outside the classroom.

\t

  • Proficiency with word processing, general computer skills, and LBC | Capital's instructional technologies (i.e. Learning Management System, Video Conferencing, etc.).
    Duties/Responsibilities:

\t

  • Teach 12 credits per semester (Spring and Fall).

\t

  • Teach courses as assigned at the undergraduate, adult education, and/or graduate level in face-to-face, blended, and online format which may require teaching during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

\t

  • Conduct and/or oversee all choral ensembles on campus with a view to create diverse choral experiences (small, large, and specialty) for majors, non-majors, and members of the community.

\t

  • Actively recruit and/or oversee recruitment activities related to the above choral ensembles. For example, festivals, recruitment clinics, performances in schools and churches, etc.

\t

  • Maintain an active portfolio of creative activities in professional organizations (i.e. ACDA), conducting engagements, etc.

\t

  • Teach and/or develop courses in choral studies, conducting, and others as assigned.

\t

  • Advise music majors as assigned.

\t

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
