REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: - The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a Teaching or Administrative Credential with 12 ECE and CCTC approved training, or Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or the equivalent and possession of a Child Development Program Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentials, and 5 years of teaching and/or administrative experience in an Early Learning/Child Development program, preferably with multiple sites. Licenses and Other Requirements:

  • Requires a Child Development Program Director Permit.

  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.

  • Requires a valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge of: - The position requires professional-level knowledge of early childhood development theory, practice, and programs.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of child development programs.

  • Requires knowledge of, and training in federal and state regulations governing child development centers, Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) funding, early childhood education, special education inclusionary practices, accreditation requirements, and outcome assessment.

  • Requires knowledge of and training in the appropriate state and federal regulations and appropriate accreditation.

  • Requires knowledge of current CPR and first aid techniques and practices.

  • Requires basic knowledge of playground safety regulations and health and safety of food regulations.

  • Requires knowledge of budget preparation and financial planning methods.

  • Requires knowledge of grant writing.

  • Requires proficiency with computer skills including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email management.

  • Requires knowledge of laws, regulations proposed legislation relevant to ECE operations.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, directs and participates in planning, organization, integration of services, and performance review of Early Learning

  • Child Development programs and School Age Care, including Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) District-wide. Ensures functionality of the District's Child Development including state and local-funded programs as well as communications among organization units, legal compliance, staff professional development, and performance management.
