Job Summary:
This position exists for the purpose of providing mental health and well-being support services and education to the department of athletics and to student-athletes within the program.

Reports to: Director of Athletics
Supervisory Responsibilities:

\t

  • Coach oversight for program deliverables.

\t

  • Oversees facilitation of personnel resources in delivering appropriate care.

    Education and Experience:

\t

  • Master's degree or current pursuit preferred in a counseling or psychology field

\t

  • Previous collegiate participation and/or coaching experience

\t

  • A demonstrated faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

\t

  • A demonstrated ability to develop the academic, spiritual, physical, and social needs of college students.
    Required Skills/Abilities:

\t

  • Ongoing professional development in counseling techniques

\t

  • First Aid and CPR certified

\t

  • Licenses: Current and valid driver's license required.

\t

  • Ability to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends to accomplish the tasks necessary for success in this field.

\t

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

\t
Duties/Responsibilities:

\t

  • Availability to counsel student-athletes and coaches

\t

  • Develop and implement a check in tool for student-athletes mental health and well-being

\t

  • Process referrals as needed for appropriate support

\t

  • Provide education and training for coaches on mental health first aid and social media literacy

\t

  • Plan events and awareness campaigns and events

\t

  • Schedule regular workshop offerings throughout the year for student-athletes in areas of mental health, well-being and social media engagement

\t

  • Design curriculum as needed

\t

  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of offerings and programming within the role

\t

  • Meet regularly with intern supervisor and Director of Athletics

\t

  • Work collaboratively with institution Counseling services and student affairs team
    Department Responsibilities -

\t

  • Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings

\t

  • Serve on campus wide committees as requested

\t

  • Other operational duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
