The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Career Services welcomes applications for the position of Director of Career Education

Salary Range

$70,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The director will develop and lead a multi-disciplinary career coaching and career education program that builds collaborative efforts across campus and that provides high-quality career education to all UT Permian Basin students. Director will ensure that projects and departments goals are met and align with the University's strategic plan to support students in achieving their career goals.

  • Develop and implement career development programs and workshops to enhance students' career readiness skills.

  • Provide individualized career coaching to students and alumni, including career assessments, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, and job search strategies.

  • Educate students, campus partners, families, and others on the value of career education and preparation for post-graduation success.

  • Train and supervise career coach staff.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to integrate career development activities into the curriculum.

  • Engage employers and foster new relationships to facilitate job opportunities.

  • Track and report on career services metrics, including assessing career readiness, student engagement, and student outcomes.

  • Interpret data, analyze results, and generate insights to support department goals. Work closely with various departments to identify opportunities for process improvement and provide data-driven recommendations.

  • Assist in preparing annual budget and monitor monthly account activities.

  • Proactively seek grants to add additional funds to support career programming.

  • Serve as a liaison between students, alumni, employers, and other campus stakeholders to address career-related needs.

  • Maintain compliance with all related federal, state, institutional, UT System, NCDA, and NACE regulations, guidelines, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or related field.

  • Three 3 years of professional experience in career services, higher education, or related field performing a variety of career coaching related activities.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students and campus partners.

  • Excellent event planning and project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management.

  • Developing and maintaining databases. Strong aptitude for collecting data from multiple sources and transforming data into accurate reports.

  • Ability to provide effective and dynamic presentations and speak in front of both small and large groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in writing grants proposals to obtain funds.

  • Knowledge of higher education and working knowledge of University policies and Texas educational guidelines.

  • Experience with career assessment tools and resources preferred.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
