This position, reporting directly to the Chief OperationalOfficer, has 24-hour accountability for the Cardiovascular Servicesdepartments. This role encompassesmanagement of human, fiscal and other resources, development of personnel,compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning andfostering of collaborative relationships.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the other members of the Round Rock Medical Center and St. David's Healthcare System, oversees the administrative function of Cardio Pulmonary, Cath Lab and Cardiac Rehab departments.
Develops and reviews annually departmentalpolicies and
procedures in compliance with theguidelines/standards of all applicable associations and/or governingbodies. Ensures staff remains knowledgeableof all policies and procedures relevant to their duties and responsibilities.
plans for new projects withrespect for cost, quality and service.
planning of department goals andobjectives.
Ensures departmental quality/PI plans andactivities are ongoing, reporting as needed.
Anticipates, identifies and works to removebarriers which block
the delivery of commitments.
Monitors regulatory compliance for functions andensures improvement to maintain compliance.
Attends administrative meetings as scheduled 90%of the time.
Is responsible for Chest Pain Certification, fills role as the chest pain coordinator
In collaboration with Human Resources, hires and directs departmental staff in the performance of their duties.
Serves as a role model for all hospitalemployees.
Adheres to personnel policies in the recruiting,hiring, directing, counseling, and evaluating of staff.
Conducts regular management and staff meetingsat a minimum of every 2 months.
Reviews and authorizes all disciplinaryprocedures in compliance with applicable hospital and departmental policies.
Completes performance appraisals by the due date
Ensures timely completion of competency testingand annual mandatory education of employees.

Prepares the annual department budget with inputfrom the Nurse
Managers, Supervisor and NurseEducators in accordance with hospital procedures.
Responsible for increasing patient volumes inarea(s) of responsibility.
Demonstrates an understanding of how teamperformance contributes to the overall business success of the St. David'sHealthCare System by generating/recommending cost effective initiatives.
Analyzes budget and productivity reports,explores variance from projected outcome and takes corrective action to remedyvariances.
Identifies trends within the industry/communityproviding feedback with recommendations for remaining strategically placedwithin the market.
Takes responsibility for improving work processes and eliminating unnecessary activities.
Ensures Supervisors, Managers, and staffunderstand new processes by ensuring inservices and follow up education areavailable when indicated.
Oversees the monitoring of the effectiveness ofexisting processes toward improving quality outcomes.
Facilitates the development of the measurementof quality outcomes.

Knowledge & Skills:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and Round Rock Medical Center's "Patient First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Required: Bachelor's degree in area of expertise required
Required: 3 years cardiology experience
Preferred: 3 - 5 years healthcare management experience
Required: Texas RN license; BLS certification
