The Director of Capital Projects at KIK Consumer Products will manage the company's complete portfolio of capital projects. This includes scope definition, costing and control, stakeholder alignment, project planning, resource and risk management, project cost and schedule tracking, and company-wide communication. Successful capital management includes reviewing project team activities to meet project and business objectives, and approval of project recommendations through governance. This role is responsible for establishing and managing the schedules and budgets of KIK's portfolio of capital projects. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering for KIK Consumer Products.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor and control all capex projects to their approved schedules and budgets, and in accordance with established budgetary guidelines and standards.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain up-to-date project timelines, key interdependencies, and resource constraints, applying appropriate project scheduling techniques.

  • Develop and deliver timely monthly reports which review schedule and financial status for all capex projects.

  • In cooperation with key stakeholders in the business, develop and seek approval for the annual capital budget.

  • Develop agendas, minutes, metrics and project communication tools for the teams and management.

  • Proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to relevant stakeholders, lead development and delivery of tactical and achievable mitigation and contingency planning.

  • Drive accountability for deliverables and ensure projects meet milestones.

  • Lead "lessons learned" exercises, share lessons among project leaders and other teams, integrate lessons into existing processes, tools, and templates.

  • Assist in engineering design, capital & operating cost estimates during all phases of project development through to execution.

  • Provide design and manufacturing evaluations, recommendations, and guidance to project teams in support of new project development opportunities, as well as existing operational improvements.

  • Provide input and review to legal and purchasing staff on contracts during drafting and negotiation.

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial is preferred.

  • Minimum ten years' experience in managing capital projects, both large equipment purchases and their installation and qualification, as well as building construction or retrofit.

  • A proven record of leading and influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to gain alignment, resolve conflicts and deliver results.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and contractors

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing practices, process systems, liquids handling and processing, solids handling and processing as well as hazardous chemical handling and storage is desirable.

  • Comfort exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies, and selecting methods and techniques of obtaining solutions to problems of varying complexity, requiring analysis of identifiable factors

  • Ability to understand business objectives, strategies and directions and ability to develop and implement action plans accordingly.

  • Effective at project management, implementation and follow through.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as well as SAP and Project Management software such as Smartsheet or MS Project. Experience with Autocad is a plus.

  • Must possess a positive attitude, be team oriented, ambitious, quality driven and of the highest integrity.

  • Knowledge and experience in Business Development activities in Pricing, Costing, and Presentation skills are desirable.

  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.

  • Ability to travel (up to 40%).

The incumbent will manage a portfolio of accounts and will be responsible for the identification of new prospects including all aspects of the research, cultivation/solicitation, and stewardship process.
