Director of Business Services
Work Days: 8 hours per day, 260 Days per year (year-round employee)
Rate: 23-24 Rate $103,681 - $107,828 DOE - Increase on Sept. 1 to $108,035 - $114,637
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision through SEBB and Retirement through DRS; Annually, 12 sick days, 10 Vacation Days (increases with years in district), 13 Paid Holidays
Position Purpose
Under the general Supervision of the Superintendent, to manage the Business Services functions of the district including budget and finance, purchasing, and food services. Collaborate on safety and risk management, human resources, and related areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Finance
Coordinate the business and financial affairs of the school district
Assist the Superintendent substantially in providing leadership in planning, developing, and achieving excellence in educational programs and support services
Assist the Superintendent with the development and administration of levies and bonds
Provide leadership that creates a learning environment sensitive to diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups served
Promote an environment that fosters high expectations, performance, and respect
Initiate and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard the assets of the district and provide the highest level of accountability of public funds
Manage internal controls in the area of cash and investments
Serve as audit liaison for financial, federal, and accountability audits
Chair the Budget Planning Committees as needed
Facilitate and maintain the long-term district fiscal plan
Develop and monitor the district annual budget
Plan, revise, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and processes in coordination with the Superintendent
Serve as the district's finance representative in bargaining activities
Serve as a member of the district's Cabinet and leadership team
Collaborate and coordinate with principals and the District's leadersip team
Develop cost analysis of salary and other fiscal proposals
Facilitate and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivables, and payroll
Manage financial aspects of the District's capital projects
Attend monthly Board meetings and present financial updates to the Board
Oversee food service operations, including management and oversight of the Food Service Management Company (FSMC)
Work with the Long-Range Facilities committee to develop long-range facility plans
Create a data-driven plan for continual improvement
Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with staff and community
Increase leadership effectiveness through professional learning
Maintain a culture of high expectations and equity
Demonstrate fallibility and model problem solving
Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment
Support and model the underlying principles of the District's strategic plan
Perform other related duties as assigned
Human Resources
Collaborate to oversee human resources compliance, including personnel policies and employment records. FMLA, Unemployment Requests
Collaborate to oversee the employee life cycle (recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employment, and end of employment)
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of best practices in accounting and bookkeeping principles.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.
Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to analyze situations to define and draw conclusions.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding school district finance, transportation, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
Ability to develop and implement projects.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
Education
Bachelor's or Masters Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience
Successful Supervisory experience preferred
Experience working with Washington state school accounting preferred
Experience working at the district level in a school district preferred
